West London College kicked off our celebrations for the Association of Colleges’ with a series of visits from local MPs, launching the first day of the national campaign.

To launch Day 1, we were delighted to welcome Deirdre Costigan MP for Ealing Southall to Southall Community College. During the visit, Principal and CEO Karen Redhead OBE spoke with Deirdre about the Association of Colleges' Adult Learning Pays campaign and the need for continued investment in adult skills training to support the Greater London Authority's Inclusive Talent Strategy, ensuring that good work is accessible to everyone. She also spent time with some of our students, visiting our Construction and Green Skills Centre and taking part in a roundtable.

Over at Ealing Green College, we were thrilled to host Dr Rupa Huq for Ealing Central and Acton who discussed important topics such as the Hammersmith & Fulham Council industrial strategy Upstream London and how the redevelopment of our Hammersmith and Fulham College will support and underpin its objectives.

Afterwards, Rupa delivered a presentation to students from across the college in our immersive classroom, speaking about representation in the House of Commons and her extensive work in the local area.

Karen Redhead OBE, Principal and CEO of West London College, said: "We were very pleased to welcome our local MPs to the college as part of Colleges Week. Their engagement and support are invaluable, and we appreciate the opportunity to showcase the impact of further education in the communities we serve. We look forward to continuing to work closely with them, and with our other local MPs, to drive education, skills and opportunities in West London.”

We're so proud to have won the Mayor of London Inclusive Provider of Adult Education Award at tonight's Adult Learning Awards, sponsored by Ascentis AO (Awarding Organisation) and FE Week! 🏆

The award recognises learning providers that have helped to make adult education more accessible for Londoners. WLC was honoured for its "outstanding commitment to inclusive, high-quality adult education across its three sites in Hammersmith, Ealing and Southall" noting that "equity, diversity, and inclusion sit at the heart of the college’s mission, and they provide life-changing opportunities for over 6,000 Londoners each year, creating a welcoming and empowering environment for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds."

James Taylor, Deputy Principal Curriculum and Quality, and Steve Bishop, Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, joined CEO and Principal Karen Redhead OBE at the awards, which took place at City Hall this evening.
