What does Autumn Term at PSAD actually mean? 🍂

Unlike our shorter holiday courses, Autumn Term gives you more time to settle into a practice, build your skills and see your work develop over several weeks.

Courses run for 6–12 weeks, with regular studio time and expert tuition across drawing, painting, pottery, printmaking, photography, textiles and more.

There are options for complete beginners, returning students and more experienced artists, as well as dedicated courses for children and young people. And if you’re looking for something a little different, the programme also includes Egg Tempera, Lithography, Garden Design, Sculpture in Ceramics and a six-week Drawing on Location course at the National Gallery.

Most courses begin across September, with selected later-starting and PAYG options available too.

Thinking about starting an art course but not sure where to begin?

Autumn Term at PSAD isn’t only for experienced artists. There are courses designed specifically for people taking their first steps, returning to art after a break or looking to build confidence with a new medium.

Start with drawing, explore oil painting or watercolour, get hands-on with clay - and have 6–12 weeks of regular studio time to practise what you learn, ask questions and see your work develop.

You don’t need to arrive knowing how to do it. That’s what the course is for.

Have you spotted these tiled panels around PSAD?

They were made by PSAD students, tutors and staff as part of the Friends of PSAD Res’tiling PSAD project, launched to celebrate Wandsworth London Borough of Culture 2025.

The project brought together people from across the school - not only potters - to paint ready-made tiles, creating a colourful record of the creativity that happens here every day. More than 300 tiles were made, glazed, assembled and installed across both PSAD sites, including Oxford Road and the 3D campus.

A huge thank you to the Friends of PSAD , to all the students, tutors and staff who took part, and a special thank you to tutor Leigh Jenkinson for her incredible work preparing tiles, organising painting sessions and glazing so many of the finished pieces.

Made at PSAD - and now part of the school itself.
