SOAS Centres & Institutes The Centres & Institutes Office at SOAS oversees the administration of the University's regional research Centres and Institutes.

The common objectives of the regional Centres and Institutes are to enhance SOAS's specialist regional expertise and to act as a focus for regional activities within the School. They contribute to the School’s regional research profile, learning environments and to external relations via outreach activities as well as partnerships within and beyond Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The activities

of Centres and Institutes not only provide for regional cohesion reflecting the concentration of scholarship on the regions of Africa, Asia and the Middle East, but also ensure that SOAS is well-positioned to play a pivotal role as a specialist centre of excellence in research and teaching/learning about Africa, Asia and the Middle East, for students, the wider academic community as well as government, non-government and business constituencies.
