For the third year running, join the UCL Caledonian Society for an Evening of Historical Dance, spanning dances from the Medieval to Victorian eras.

The evening is beginner friendly and open to all - no prior experience needed. It will be hosted from 6-9pm on 11th June in Elvin Hall of the IOE.

Wear comfy shoes, and period typical clothing is encouraged, although come in whatever you feel comfortable!

It’s the announcement you’ve all been waiting for: OUR SUMMER BALL! NOW TAKING PLACE ON THE 13TH JUNE!

Join us for an evening of reeling to the fabulous !! Snacks and drinks provided!

We intend for the ball to be open to those who have not reeled much or at all before. As such, we will be holding a number of FREE Ball Prep Sessions in advance for anyone who wants to get a feel for the dances, and would highly recommend them! This is as there shall be no teaching on the evening!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿TASTER SESSIONS FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Every wanted to try Scottish reeling, dance in general or just want a great excuse to meet new people, why not come along to one of our taster sessions!

No tickets are needed, just show up either alone or with a friend or two! We are an incredibly welcoming society and promise you will have an evening full of spins and laughs!

FAQ’s

What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and shoes which you can dance in! Nothing special it can just be a pair of trainers!

Do you have any socials?
We go to the pub after each session!

Do I need a taster membership?
If you could grab one on our students union page (linked in bio) that would be great but don’t worry if you’re unable to (they’re free!)

Can I come alone?
Of course you can! We are very welcoming!

Is reeling beginner friendly?
Absolutely, I would say it’s one of the most beginner friendly forms of dancing! It’s very social too!

Hello everybody, it is our absolute joy to introduce the committee of Caledonian Society for this upcoming year (2024-25)!

We are all super excited to meet, welcome and catch up with everybody joining or returning to CalSoc for this year! We are completely beginner friendly so anyone can come along and give reeling a go, much like all of the current committee did!

Medieval Soc and Caledonian Society are teaming up this Monday for a collaborative workshop of Medieval Dance! The session is entirely beginner-friendly and will be pretty relaxed, so feel free to bring along as many friends as you can muster to join in.

From 19:30 onwards, CalSoc will be hosting a regular session and everyone is welcome to stick around after the Medieval Dances are complete for some highland delights. We can make it beginner-friendly too!
