UCL LGBTQ+ Network Lunch - Tuesday, 21st April from 12-2pm in the Conference Room, Bloomsbury Theatre Building

Professor Anthony Smith, LBGTQ+ champion on the Provost’s Senior Management Team, would like to invite all Le***an, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender UCL staff to an informal lunch on Tuesday, 21st April from 12-2pm in the Conference Room, Bloomsbury Theatre Building, 15 Gordon Square WC1H 0AY. This is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ staff to get together for a social lunch and share some ideas about how UCL can best support staff. Currently we have the virtual Out@UCL network, A Q***r Space Reading Group and a developing Research Network. If you identify as LGBTQ+ and are not already a member of the informal Out@UCL network, are there things that could make this more useful to you? If you are a member, what else could the network and UCL do to support you better? Lunch will be provided so please RSVP to Fiona Addison [email protected].

LGBTQ Histories at UCL, 25 February 2015, 6–8pm.

Scheduled to coincide with Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Trans History Month, this event will include short talks on some of UCL’s particularly celebrated alumni. It will also be an opportunity to discuss some of challenges we face when trying to ‘reclaim’ or ‘out’ figures from past who may not have understood themselves in terms of categories such as le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender or q***r.

With contributions from Bob Mills (History of Art Department, UCL), Alex Parsons (English Department, UCL), and Jeffrey Weeks (Emeritus Professor, London South Bank).

This event will take place in the Wilkins Garden Room, UCL. It be followed by a reception. All welcome, booking not necessary.

"Why have 53% of le***an and bisexual teenagers self harmed in the previous year and what can be done about it?"

You are invited to…..

The showing of a recent TEDxUCLWomen talk on how to tackle homophobia, by UCL Senior Teaching Fellow Catherine Purkiss followed by a panel discussion with panelists James Taylor, Stonewall’s Head of Policy; a representative of UCL Student Psychological Service and Catherine Purkiss. Representatives from other charities working in the field have also been invited to contribute. There will be an opportunity for questions from the floor as part of this discussion.

The event is supported by the UCL Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Equalities Advisory Group (LEAG) and is for both staff and students at UCL and other London Universities and anyone else interested in the topic.

The film and panel discussion will be followed by a drinks reception, at the same venue. An excellent opportunity to network with LGBT+ people across staff/student divisions and also from other London Universities.

Non LGBT+ staff and students are also very welcome.

This event is free, but small donations to Stonewall are encouraged; information about the charity will be available at the event.
