Pride in TeamUCL Week 2021💜

Click the link below to access the online Pride in TeamUCL Training. There is an Active Bystander course specific to pride in sport and a follow-on live Zoom workshop to apply the content and explore intervention techniques further. Please try to take the online module, and where possible, the Zoom workshop. The course will remain available all year.

Also keep your eyes out for some of the amazing Pride in TeamUCL events our clubs have organised this week, from quizzes to Pride in Sport panels!

Welfare Officer Shameer said Our aim with a "UCL Kickboxing 🥊 Disabled Only session would be to primarily give those with a disability a chance to take up a new skill, to challenge themselves and to give them an opportunity within an exciting sport. Our current instructor, John, is experienced with teaching disabled athletes. It is our vision to have this be the catalyst to drive real change within UCL and we would love if you could be a part of our journey!’

today comes from Freya who was a fresher last year and decided to join .

Their incredible president Chiamaka (2020) had this to say on the club:

"UCL Lacrosse is one of the biggest and most social sports clubs on campus, with Women’s, Men’s and Mixed Teams.

We have socials every week, as well as an annual international tour (last year we went to Lisbon 🇵🇹) and Lacrosse Ball!

Suitable for complete beginners, in our development team, right through to national players, in our 1st team, there really is something for everyone!"

Today's video features Jamie from .karate giving an insight into what sports clubs are like for International students at UCL.

Our sports clubs are a fantastic place to meet new people from all over the world.

UCL Karate are a club last year who won a Bronze development award, working with community clubs to host sessions for disabled students of UCL.

Today's video features Sarah from giving an insight into the role of a sports club president.

At UCL all sports clubs are run by democratically elected students and they do a fantastic job!

UCL Hiking are a powerhouse of TeamUCL. They do weekly hikes all over England. Last year they won a Silver Development award, and got some national media attention when they went to Portsmouth for a beach clean.

Today's video features Molly, who was a fresher last year with giving an insight into her experience of meeting new people and trying out a new sport!

If you are new to UCL next year or just want to try a new sport to support your wellbeing our Netball club have a wide range of welcoming opportunities.

The UCL Netball club won a Bronze Development Award last year, they have a specific team for masters' and postgrad students to compete together on, they have social netball if you aren't that keen on competition, and they of course have the competitive stuff for those who want it.

Today's video features two TeamUCL medics Georgia and Precious from giving an insight into their experience balancing their studies as a medic and as a TeamUCL athlete.

If you are a medical student you can of course join any of our wonderful 75 sports clubs.

UCL Lightning club were one of four clubs who won a Gold Development Award last year, they doubled their amount of male users, did some exciting financial management, and had more members than ever take part in their competitions.
