This week is โa national campaign that celebrates the difference gifts in Wills can make.
At Queen Mary, we are deeply grateful to alumni like Dr John Lofting (MBBS, 1956, The London Medical School), who chose to leave a gift in his Will to support medical students both now and in the future.
Having experienced financial hardship himself during medical school, John wanted others to have the chance to study without the same worries. His legacy now funds the Dr John Lofting Bursary, easing financial pressure for those following in his footsteps.
Matthew, pictured on the left, is a pre-clinical medicine student and a current recipient of the Dr John Lofting Bursary: โNow, with the bursary, for the first time I feel like I can plan ahead, manage my budget, and stay afloat โ and look forward to qualifying and joining a dynamic profession that I love.โ โ Matthew, pre-clinical medicine student at Queen Mary, University of London.
Thanks to Dr Loftingโs generosity, Matthew can concentrate on his studies, prepare for clinical placements, and take up opportunities that will shape his career without being held back by financial worries.
