The landscape of international development is changing 🌍

Earlier this summer, DPU hosted a hybrid alumni roundtable with alumni from DPU and UCL Institute for Global Prosperity, exploring the dramatic changes in global aid, including the closure of USAID and major cuts to overseas development assistance by key donors.

🎓 Alumni from across the sector, including UN agencies, NGOs and local governments, shared insights on how they’re adapting to rising global needs and shrinking resources.

Congratulations to Dr Paroj Banerjee on receiving the Urban Studies Foundation (USF) Seminar Series Award 🏆

Her project, 'Epistemes of non-dominant inhabitation: a seminar series for early-career and under-represented scholars to decentre urban knowledge' spotlights underrepresented voices.

💬 "Absolutely honoured to have received this award. Looking forward to working with Ish*ta Chatterjee and Raffael Beier on the politics of knowledge production and urban inhabitation."
– Dr Banerjee

💬 “Becoming the first in my family to earn a master’s means becoming a role model for girls like me.”

Effie Atieno’s journey from Kenya to UCL was made possible through The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Scholarship and she’s used that opportunity to not only complete her degree, but to lead with purpose.

Supported by her lecturers at The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, Effie is now focused on empowering girls in her community and championing access to education.

A powerful story of perseverance, progress and possibility.
