Goodenough College library stars in a new Microsoft ad!
We often hear that Goodenough College’s historic spaces are truly stunning (which we quietly agree with), so it’s no surprise they make regular appearances on screen.
Take a look at this new advert, where our Charles Parsons Library takes centre stage.

With the London heatwave and exam season in full swing, here’s a little reminder for our postgraduates preparing for their exams — it’s important to take a moment to pause, relax, and connect in between preparations.
Here are a few moments of Goodenough Members enjoying The Hofstetter Roof Terrace at Goodenough, in the sunshine.
We're wishing everyone the very best of luck this exam season!

We were delighted to welcome Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube, South African Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, to Goodenough College this afternoon for a lively and insightful discussion with South African students.

The College Director and Goodenough Members from South Africa were joined by senior officials from the South African Department of Higher Education and Training, a representative from the South African High Commission in London, and South African students from universities across the UK.

The debate covered important themes, including international study opportunities for South African students, the recognition of qualifications, and the South African higher education system.

It was a valuable opportunity to foster connections and reflect on global academic experiences.

As part of the European Week at Goodenough, we were delighted to welcome the Ambassadors of France and Belgium for a panel discussion on 'Europe's Place in a Changed World'.

Their Excellencies Hélène Tréheux-Duchêne (France) and Andrzej Bielecki (Belgium) spoke about the challenges that Europe faces on an economic, geopolitical and demographic level, and hinted at ways on how to solve these issues.

Goodenough Member Dietrich Rosiers, who organised the event, commented:
"To be able to receive such high-standing speakers and host them for a panel discussion right at the heart of the College, is just magnificent. I'm very grateful to Goodenough College for helping to make this happen!"

Goodenough European Week continues with more events to come: Members Nuria Gallucci and Dietrich Rosiers are organising the European Fair on Saturday, followed by the Dining-In Night on 12 May. All Goodenough Members are warmly welcome!

An inspiring evening of diplomacy, dialogue, and global perspectives at Goodenough College. 🌍

We were honoured to welcome His Excellency Bernhard Wrabetz, Austrian Ambassador to the Court of St James’s, for a thought-provoking Port Talk exploring how smaller countries make their voices heard on the global stage.

The Ambassador shared insights into the realities of modern diplomacy, from navigating complex international relations to identifying opportunities where influence goes beyond size. The discussion sparked engaging questions from Members and opened up space for reflection on the role of strategic dialogue and cooperation in today’s world.

✨ In our Members’ own words:

🙌 “It was fascinating to hear how smaller countries can still make their voices heard in international diplomacy, especially through international organisations and law. What stood out most were the Ambassador’s personal insights into the realities of diplomatic life - it made the whole field feel much more tangible.”
- Alex, Goodenough Member

Events like this highlight the unique opportunities available within the College community, bringing Members face-to-face with leading figures from across diplomacy, academia, and public life.

At Goodenough, we’re proud to offer our Members a rich programme of experiences that open horizons well beyond their academic disciplines; and earlier this month that spirit of exploration took us to Greece.

Members travelled to Santorini for a Dean’s Colloquium delving into the island’s dramatic volcanic history and its enduring connection to the myth of Atlantis.

Led by Professor Tamsin Mather FRS (University of Oxford) and David Stuttard, the programme blended science, classical history, and learning rooted firmly in place.

From expert‑led discussions to unforgettable moments on the island itself, one of the participating Members, Rixt, reflected:
“The perfect mix of science, storytelling, and sunshine. It all felt alive, from walking on the volcano to swimming in its waters.”
