Wimbledon College of Arts Wimbledon College of Arts. University of the Arts London (UAL). Specialising in Acting and Performance Design courses

Wimbledon College of Arts has a long tradition of providing world class teaching in technical arts for theatre, film and television. We believe in a non-hierarchical and inclusive approach to performance. That means we see all elements as equal partners. Whether it be acting, directing, writing or designing. Our courses include acting, costume, production and theatre design. Collaborative performa

nce is a key part of the experience at Wimbledon. We design many of our course projects with that in mind. Students often work in teams to produce theatre, performance and other live events. This reflects working practices within the industry. We want to develop your creativity, technical ability and professionalism. It is these qualities that enable many of our graduates to go on to have successful careers. Our alumni include costume designer Lorna Mugan, production designer Sarah Greenwood and set designers Simon Costin and Soutra Gilmour. Wimbledon College of Arts has well established national and international industry links. These include 2 of the United Kingdom's leading theatres: the National and the Lyric. Many of our staff are practicing professionals in their field. These connections allow students to gain valuable work experience. Our facilities include specialist workshops, studios and an on-site professional theatre. In summer 2020 Wimbledon began a multimillion-pound investment programme to transform the site into a world-leading centre for performance. The main phase of work has now been completed, with the final works to refurbish the library due to finish in early 2023. These improvements will enable us to nurture performance talent of the future.

Step into a world of myth, movement and costume ✨

Join first-year students from Wimbledon College of Arts at Wimbledon Library for Kaleidoscope of Stories: Costume inspired by East & South Asian Folklore, an imaginative live performance inspired by folk tales from across South and East Asia.

Drawing on stories including Rama and Sita, The Legend of the White Snake and The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, students have created original costumes exploring colour, textile design, silhouette and storytelling through performance.

Created using recycled and repurposed materials, the project celebrates sustainability, craftsmanship and contemporary costume making.

How do you discover you're this talented? 😳

We're spotlighting some of the student work you'll see at our Undergraduate Summer Show. This incredible work is made by Mili Beagley, a student from our BA (Hons) Technical Arts for Theatre and Screen course. She specialises in in prosthetic makeup effects and special effects body props for the film and tv industry.

Explaining her work in more detail, she said "My piece is titled ‘The Changeling’. It depicts a woman holding a baby with elf like ears that have been cut off to appear more human. This work calls for greater recognition of how neurodivergence. I like to use a lot of traditional moulding and casting techniques in my work, but I’ve also started learning to incorporate some small digital parts into the workflow. The body form for the woman was 3D printed."

Our Undergraduate Summer Show takes place from 13 June – 20 June.

Join us for the industry evening on Wednesday 17 June from 6–9pm.

This weekend we’re at MCM Comic Con London....a 3-day celebration of all things gaming, anime, and pop culture! 🎮

Our stand will be impossible to miss as Godzilla returns this year…and he’s bringing a new friend: Gamera! 🐢

At University of the Arts London, our courses give students the skills to create life-sized props, animatronics, character animation, and much more for the creative industries.

Our BA (Hons) Technical Arts for Theatre and Screen staff and students have created both Godzilla and a Gamera suit inspired by the film Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris.

Both created by: Phoebe Stringer, Nate Barker and Annika Randle

Come and say hello if you’re attending this weekend!

More from 'Sound on Stage' 🤩

We're thinking back to this incredible performance. Last month, students from Wimbledon College of Arts brought Sound on Stage to life at the V&A South Kensington, transforming the Raphael Gallery into an immersive live performance inspired by the V&A’s collection of costumes, stage props and designs. 👗

Responding to the theme of ‘echoes’, students created a spectacular showcase of contemporary costume, movement and sound, performed throughout the day within one of the museum’s most iconic spaces.

A huge congratulations to all the students, performers and creative teams involved in this unforgettable collaboration ✨
