This is UCL Salsa Society's official page. We welcome all levels of dancers, from complete beginners to advanced!

UCL Salsa Society offers weekly salsa and bachata classes, workshops, live music and dance performances, and lots of trips to various London clubs for social dancing. No dance shoes, special equipment, or partner is required. Please note only standard members (who have purchased either a Whole Term Class Pass or a One-off Class Pass) will be able to attend classes from now on. 💥THIS WEEK’S TIMETABLE💥

This week marks our last week of classes this academic year! 😪💃

We hope you have had an incredible year with UCL Salsa, from classes and socials, to the boat ball and Salsathon 🫶🪩
We have absolutely loved watching all of you flourish from newbies into enthusiastic salseros and bachateros, and we hope to see you again next year!🕺🎉

Don’t worry, we have some exciting things planned for our last week of classes! ⬇️

💃 On Tuesday, Steve will be giving us a rueda workshop, using moves learnt in our improvers intermediate classes to learn a mini rueda routine!
🕺 On Wednesday, Daniel will be doing a bachata workshop for the last hour, teaching a series of short drill routines in all styles bachata that can be used in a fun bachata rueda!
🎉 On Thursday, we will be having our last open social, announcing our superlatives awards, and practicing all the moves we have learnt this year with the community we have built up 🥰

💃 4 DAYS TO SALSATHON: THE JUDGES ⚖️

We are incredibly lucky to have three fantastic judges for our inter-university competitions on Saturday: Fadi K, Katrin Lerner, and Biskit 🤩👏

All three need no introduction but for those new on the scene, here's a summary of their many accolades:

Fadi K is the director of F K Dance and one of the UK's biggest dance festivals - ABCD (Any Body Can Dance). He's an amazing dancer, instructor and DJ at events all over London such as 50/50, as well as at dance congresses all over the world 🌎

Katrin Lerner is a phenomenal performer, choreographer, and instructor from Germany that has graced some of the biggest stages in the salsa world, including the recent Mambo City 5 Star Congress! Her style emphasises music and the individual’s feelings, gracefully incorporating elegance and flavour into dancing✨

Biskit is an international Bachata teacher and DJ based in London. A director of the London Bachata Academy (LBA) and organiser of one of London's biggest social dancing events, London Loves Bachata, he is a well known dancer familiar with a variety of styles 🕺

A day of fun competitions, social dancing, & more? ☀️ UCL Salsa is organising our first inter-university Salsathon charity fundraiser on 25 May and all net proceeds will be donated to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity! 💃

It’s going to be an amazing day with open couple and fun category competitions (including jack and jill, blindfolded rounds, and role reversals 👀), then a social to end the night!

💃 POSTGRAD INTRO TO SALSA COURSE 💃

Want to recap your basics and meet other PGs? We've teamed up with the SU Postgraduate Officer to bring back the Post-Grad Salsa Course in Term 3!

Four sessions, each 1.5 hours of salsa, all run by the incredible Andres Parra😱 Standard members get a discounted rate of £15 🎉

💜 ALL JOKES ASIDE & SSW SALSA SOCIAL 🩵

With exams around the corner, we’ve teamed up with All Jokes Aside and Support Support & Wellbeing services for a salsa social tonight!

Take a rest from studying at the student centre and join us in christopher ingold (right across the road) to move those muscles 💃

This will be an *introductory salsa class* (taught by our very own salsa volunteers) at 6pm, but a great chance for you to try out a new role if you don’t usually lead/ follow. This will be followed by a social so everyone try out their new moves and mingle!

💃 TERM 3 RUEDA PERFORMANCE TEAM SIGN-UPS ❤️‍🔥

On top of our existing Salsa and Bachata Performance Teams, we are opening up performance opportunities to the entire society for a recreational Rueda Team in Term 3💃

ALL current Standard members of UCL Salsa Society can join! This includes Associate and Alumni members.

Selections are happening over the next two weeks before Term 2 ends so we can have a running start in Term 3🔥
