UCL CSSA Career Committee successfully organised an event called “Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue” with Askinow, a new online teaching and learning system, on November 27th.

We invited six guests to share their personal experience in starting their businesses in the UK. Their businesses are various, including aviation, agency for students studying abroad, and
establishing an online system. This enabled students to equip themselves with more confidence and expertise in becoming an entrepreneur. This event ended up with a social networking
session, when delicious pizzas and drinks were provided. Students discussed with guests on their idea of starting a business and gained precious advice from guests.

The talk held by Tencent Games and UCL CSSA Career Committee was extremely successful. On 3rd Nov, Tencent Games introduced the management trainee program with details about the treatment and benefit to over 130 attendances at UCL Wilkins Gustave Tuck LT. Most of them are final year students and Masters. Speakers included the Overseas Marketing Director from Tencent Games and he reminded us the glorious history of Tencent. During the talk, Tencent asked several questions to test how much people know about the company and those who answered the questions correctly got cute presents. I also got a necklace✌.

On the following day, Tencent interviewed the students who sent their CVs in advanced at UCL. More than 50 students were selected by Tencent and got the chance to attend the interview. Finally, CSSA Career commitee wishes all the students get the jobs they want. We will have more interesting and helpful events in the future. Hope to see you again!

CSSA Career committee successfully hosted Eastern Blossom on the 29th October, where we had the privileged to invite more than 12 Chinese investment bankers from the City, to share with us the experience they had.
Firstly, we opened up the discussion by talking about how to gather the most useful information during an career fair, speakers lay out the key questions and puts it in to practices by inviting a volunteer to do a role play on stage,
Following the role play, panelists entered the Q&A session where questions were asked regarding the culture shock in China and UK, how to deal with the complicated relationships at work between you and your colleague, how to join in the social group after work, etc.
At last, the event came to an end in the social networking session, where individual speaker and student had the chance to engage with each other to discuss their ideas.

Being CSSA Career Committee’s first event of the new academic year, the session has attracted over 200 attendees, including students from IC, LSE and other universities.
We have made extra effort to invite current employees from EY, PWC and KPMG to come down to UCL and to share their experiences working in a leading accounting firm. Having graduated from UCL, the guest speakers also provided current UCL students with valuable insights into the internship programs, and offered tips on the application procedures.
The event was followed by a networking session, during which presidents from popular UCLU societies, such as Women in Finance, AIESEC at UCL, Economic Society etc. also presented to interact with interested first year students.
