We welcomed the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to UCL East today as he announced new action to tackle violence against women and girls.

The strategy, which was informed by UCL research, covers both online and “tech abuse crimes”. A particular focus will be on how to make public spaces safer and involving people with lived experience in the design of solutions to help ensure they are effective.

We’re proud to have hosted this important moment at UCL East and to support conversations that can help create a safer, more inclusive London.

“1955 seems a long time ago and yet the memories are still so fresh.”

We asked UCL Alumni around the world to share the moments that shaped their student days and stayed with them. The result? Postcards of memories, nostalgia and campus history. ✨

From the grit of clearing bomb-damaged lecture theatres after the Blitz, to worrying about the Cuban Missile Crisis in the quad, to sampling all kinds of strange fungi under the guidance of a world expert.

Whether it's late nights under the library dome or deep bonding with Jeremy Bentham's auto–icon – so much so someone even named their dog Bentham - these stories bring back all the campus feels. 💜

Whatever your era, you'll find it here, unlock memories and dive into the full collection:

Here, we were the first university in England to admit students regardless of religion, gender or background.

Meet the staff, alumni and partners who continue to advance UCL’s founding commitment to inclusive, world-leading education.

Through teaching, research and support, they have expanded access to knowledge and opportunity, broken down barriers, centred the voices of marginalised communities, shaped national and global education programmes and policies, and acted as mentors and guides so that generations of students and young people can thrive.

🌍 Building better AI education, together

We’re excited to announce the launch of the AI Research Foundations Toolkit, created by UCL and the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), with Google.org’s support.

Built on the no-cost Google DeepMind: AI Research Foundations curriculum, this toolkit enables universities to embed Large Language Model (LLM) education directly into classroom teaching, balancing advanced technical skills with ethical responsibility.

Co-designed with African educators to fit real classroom environments, Project Manager at AIMS Michael Alummoottil shares:

💬 “By combining this technical expertise with an on-the-ground understanding of African STEM education, we have developed resources that are built around the practical realities of our classrooms.”

The result is a flexible, modular resource featuring over 50 hours of lesson plans, classroom activities, and interdisciplinary learning that educators anywhere can adapt to their context.
