Earlier this week our Film and Television Production students were joined by actor, writer, director, film festival manager and Bedfordshire alumna Annie Apokoh, for a session of our 'Media Junction' professional development workshop series! 🎥🎬

We were delighted to welcome Annie back onto campus after she graduated with us in 2023 & 2025 in which time she has worked on a range of productions including: music videos, short films, theatre performances, as well as management and director positions at the British Urban Film Festival & Wellness Film Festival.

It was an invaluable session for students to hear about Annie's career within the television & media industry since graduating and her advice for them on how to make the most of their time at University being in the same position that she was a couple of years ago! 📺

We were delighted to be joined yesterday by award-winning journalist and filmmaker Nadine White as part of our ‘Powered by Experience’ lecture series and celebrations for an evening of storytelling, career insights and conversation 💬📰🎥

Nadine’s lecture explored how she has built a career through telling stories that mainstream media often overlooks; from local newsrooms to national press, founding Black Current News and making her box-office hit documentary ‘Barrel Children: The Families Windrush Left Behind’.

Followed by a panel discussion with students and staff we also heard Nadine’s advice for anyone starting out in the journalism & creative industries and about what it takes to build something of your own through creating opportunities for yourself in a competitive industry.
