INTERVIEW PRACTICE DAY!
Are you applying for internships/placements or in your final year applying for jobs after your degree? Would you like to have a practice interview prior to doing it for real?

You may have never had an interview before or be more experienced and need to hone your skills. Either way, this is your chance to do so in a supportive environment! We've got two 'Interview Practice Days' on Weds 17 March 1-4pm and Weds 24 March 9am-12pm. The sessions are open to students from all degree disciplines and any year of study.

A number of recruiters and associates have volunteered their time to conduct mock interviews with our students. You'll be allocated a 25-minute time slot, which will include a few interview questions and some immediate feedback afterwards. There will also be a chance to ask questions at the end. Don’t miss this opportunity to practice a vital skill for your future!

Get Experience: Virtual Assessment Centres, Wed 10 March, 10.00-12.15pm OR 1.15-3.30pm

These two sessions are being run by the Careers Service and will give you an introduction to a Virtual Assessment Centre and a chance to take part in a group task. Please register for the morning OR afternoon session on CareerConnect You will then receive a Zoom link.

Why take part? Virtual Assessment Centres are being used by many graduate employers as the final stage of their recruitment process. In this shortened version of the real thing, employers will share tips and advice for how to perform well. You will also work on an exercise with a small group of students and receive feedback on how your group performed in relation to a set of competencies. When we ran this session in the autumn students said:

‘The mock assessment was the day before I had a real assessment centre and I’m pleased to say I have just been offered the placement role I had applied to. I think the mock assessment day really helped me prepare...’

‘It was such a valuable session with so many great hints and tips. I’ve identified lots of areas to improve and will definitely feel more confident going into my first assessment centre.’

How to build a network when you have limited connections

Wednesday 11th November 1pm-2pm

Building a professional network is one of the most important things students and recent graduates can do to boost their career. In fact, lots of people find their first graduate job or progress in their career via their connections and network (sometimes called ‘the hidden job market).

But what do you do if you don’t have many connections? This can put you at a disadvantage. Don’t worry, Vic and Jenny from the Careers Service are here to help! Networking isn’t quite as complicated as it sounds.

Join us for this online session packed with tips on how you can expand your network, use social media to forge new connections, and make the most of the networks you’re already part of; The University of Manchester student and alumni communities!

This event will take place on Go To Webinar: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7854275960180929039
