Offers of accommodation are sent out every day and that will be case throughout August and into early September. Do not worry if you have not yet received an offer. If you fall with the Accommodation Guarantee you will receive an offer of accommodation

We will start sending offers of accommodation tomorrow and then every day afterwards. Please do not panic or get stressed if you do not hear from us straight away. Once an offer is made you will have four days to accept and at the point of acceptance we will ask you to make an Advanced Licence Fee Payment of £400. This will be deducted from the first payment due in October. Please note we will only make one offer of accommodation to you ... not multiple offers.

A significant number of students have been able to successfully access the web portal and accept offers. If you have recently tried and failed we would suggest you clear your browser history and the cache and try again. Similarly we have had a good number of applications come through in the past hour.

We are aware of continuing problems being experienced by some users either trying to accept a current offer or submit an application. If you have an offer of accommodation and you are currently unable to accept it – please do not worry. The expiry date will be extended. If you are trying to apply and you currently can’t, don’t worry it won’t work to your disadvantage once the system is fully functioning. We apologise for the problems you are experiencing. We are aware of the issues, so you don’t need to inform us. Be assured we are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

The accommodation application portal has gone live. You can use the link to both apply for accommodation AND view an offer of accommodation once an offer has been made. If you have not yet registered for an e-accommodation account please do register first. We appreciate it has been a testing time for all concerned and we are sorry we have unable to get the system up and running any earlier. If you experience problems (we are aware some users still are). Please be patient and try again later this evening or again tomorrow.

Unfortunately, The University of Manchester has been subject to a cyber incident and as part of our response a number of systems, including the accommodation system, are not currently available.

We anticipate the accommodation system being available again towards the start of August 2023.

ACCOMMODATION APPLICATIONS
You cannot make an application at this current moment in time in our accommodation system, via any other system, or by phone or email.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we hope to be able to accept applications again very soon when our system is available again. We anticipate this to be towards the end of July. Please keep checking our website for updates.

The delay in being able to make an application for accommodation will not affect your chances of getting your preference. We will take this into account when we start to allocate and offer rooms again. This process is currently frozen, so you are not disadvantaged by being unable to make an application.

If you have applied for accommodation and are waiting on confirmation that you have met the conditions to study, there is nothing you need to do at this moment. As soon as we know you have met your conditions to study and our accommodation system is working again, we’ll be able to send you an accommodation offer.

ACCOMMODATION OFFERS AND PREFERENCES
If you have been made an offer of accommodation, then the offer still remains on our system and will be honoured. As soon as we are able to, we will update the offer with a new expiry date by which you should either accept or reject the offer.

If you have applied for accommodation and want to change your hall preference, or you have been offered and have accepted University accommodation and now want to change where you have been allocated to, we are unable to assist with these requests at this time, for which we apologise. We will update our website to let you know to contact us.

ACCOMMODATION GENERAL
If you are applying for a student visa, you do not need to know exactly where you will be living in the UK when you complete the visa application form online. If you already have plans for your accommodation in the UK you can include the details.

If you are in the process of making travel arrangements, your airline may ask you to provide your passenger information before you travel. This is known as Advance Passenger Information (API) and is either taken at the time of booking or check-in. If you are asked for this information when booking your travel but do not know where you will be living during your studies, you can provide an expected address for your first night in the UK, for example the address of a hotel, friend, or family member in the UK.

Please be aware of the risk of booking non-refundable flights before you are granted your visa.

Our advice is to not book flights until you know you have secured accommodation.

We are unable to accept early arrivals into halls of residence. The majority of University accommodation agreements do not generally commence until mid-September.

Our accommodation teams are unable to provide any further information than what is published here, but please regularly check on the accommodation website where we’ll be posting updates. It would be appreciated if you could limit emails and calls on this issue to allow our teams time to continue to assist current residents.

You are more than welcome to look for private accommodation, making an application to University halls does not commit you to anything. We do recommend that you contact Manchester Student Homes, which will be able to advise you on accommodation in the private sector.

We are currently experiencing a few technical issues with our online acceptance process so don't worry if this is stopping you from accepting. As soon as we are up and running again we'll ensure your ability to accept online is restored.

Week commencing Monday 27th June we will begin the process of sending out offers of accommodation to students who already hold unconditional firm offers to study for the academic year 22/23. We will not send out all the offers on the 27th but approx 500 on each day of the week except for Thursday. Further updates on this page over the next few days and weeks.
