Air temp isn’t water temp. Stay safe.

Entering cold water makes you GASP.
Cold water increases your breathing and heart rate, causing PANIC.
Your muscles will get too cold, making you uncoordinated and WEAK.

RLSS UK’s advice is:
• Choose lifeguarded spots
• Never swim alone
• Wear bright colours
• Enter the water slowly
• Get out before you get cold

If you get into trouble, Find Your Float.

It may feel warm outside, but the water isn’t.
Share this vital water safety advice to help keep others safe.

📚💼 Business students welcomed guests from The Mansfield Building Society for an engaging employability session focused on preparing young people for the world of work.

Summer Ridge and Bob Crowe from the Society’s HR team visited Level 2 business students to share advice on job applications, CV writing, interview preparation and career planning. The session was organised by business studies volunteer Marc Johnson and his group to help students build confidence and develop practical employability skills 👏

Students discussed their ambitions and future plans, including balancing college with part-time work and exploring career paths. Visitors encouraged them to think carefully about the type of organisation they would like to work for and how researching employers can help them stand out ⭐

The group also completed exercises exploring employability skills, interview techniques and mock interview questions, helping students understand how to present themselves positively to future employers 🙌

Business teacher Sarah Taylor said: “It was great to welcome Summer and Bob to help give our Level 2 students some practical insights as they look at applying for jobs. The session showed them what a recruitment process involves and helped them understand how to present themselves positively to future employers.”

🍹✨ First-year Level 3 Travel and Tourism students have been putting their hospitality and event planning skills into practice as part of a project to plan a Year 11 prom!

Students researched every aspect of running a successful event, including venues, themes, catering, entertainment and welcome drinks, before creating their own signature mocktails. 🍓🍋🫐

Learners took part in a hands-on mocktail masterclass in Refined restaurant with front-of-house trainer Lee Senkans-Coupe and student Cody Wragg. They created colourful, creative drinks before peer-assessing them on presentation, flavour, cost-effectiveness and suitability for large-scale events. 👏

Standout creations included the impressive Vimto Blue, while Berry Blizzard was named the winning mocktail for taste thanks to its fruity, zesty flavour. 🎉🍸

A fantastic opportunity for students to build industry-ready skills and gain real hospitality experience outside the classroom! 🌟
