It’s been a busy year for the Migration, Integration and Social Connections (MISC) team at IGHD, who are undertaking novel community-oriented approaches to understand more about the impact of time and place on refugee integration in Scotland.

is a coalition of more than 280 organisations in support of changes in UK Government legislation to allow those seeking asylum the right to work.

Currently, an application can be only be made for the right to work after one year of waiting for an asylum decision has passed.

Our research finds that not having access to work is part of an interplay of correlated factors that delays the process of integration.
