Meet Stanley, a final-year Level 3 Military & Defence Pilot student at ASI and is due to graduate next month✈️

Stanley has loved developing his skills in the simulators and learning from an incredible line-up of guest speakers, including RAF Cranwell pilots - giving him valuable insight into the RAF application process️👨‍✈️

Stanley has also enjoyed being surrounded by classmates who all share the same ambition and drive to succeed👏

Recently, Stanley achieved a huge milestone by passing the CBAT test after an overnight stay and an intense 8-hour assessment! Next, he’ll head to the Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre (OASC) and complete his medical 🚀

Looking ahead, Stanley hopes to fly multi-engine aircraft in the RAF!

This week, we received communication from one of our ex Healing pupils, Emily, who reached out to tell us about her career journey since leaving school. Here, Emily recounts her road to success...

"People often assume high GCSE results require natural brilliance, but mine were the product of consistency and hard work. My motivation stemmed from a clear ambition: becoming a pilot. Focusing on Maths, Physics, and Geography provided the essential foundation for my A-levels and future career.

A turning point occurred in Year 10 when my Geography teacher, Miss Henshall, encouraged me to pursue work experience at RAF Scampton. Spending time with the Red Arrows made my dream feel tangible. Outside of school, joining the Air Cadets further developed my leadership and confidence through various camps and flying opportunities.

When the RAF paused recruitment during the pandemic, I pivoted to ASI Newark. There, I discovered an interest in helicopters, leading me to apply for a scholarship with Bristow Helicopters. After a rigorous selection process, I began professional flight training, which I completed in December 2025.

I am currently flying in Aberdeen before heading to the Falkland Islands. My ultimate goal is joining UK Search and Rescue at Humberside Airport. My journey proves that these careers are achievable without 'perfect' grades; success comes from consistent effort starting at the GCSE level. If you work hard, your ambitions can absolutely become reality!"

In a week where our current Year 11 pupils have just started to sit their exams, Emily's story is great motivation indeed and defines her as a home grown role model. Thank you for sharing your inspirational experience with all Emily!
