Want to share your ideas about how you work with personal assistants, and how you make decisions about personal assistants?

This project is looking for young disabled adults (age 18 to 30) to tell us what they think. We are looking to speak to young people who are + who employ PAs as well as young people who do not identify as +. This study is for those living in England.

One way to take part is to complete a journal at home of your experiences. We will send you questions to answer and all the materials you need.

All participants receive a £20 voucher for taking part. Results will be used to support young disabled people when making choices about employing PAs who are right for them.

A study led by researchers at Northumbria University will document and analyse the experiences of young disabled adults who employ Personal Assistants to help with their care and support needs.

With the aim of helping to improve adult social care outcomes in England, the study project will work with young disabled adults (aged 18-30) to learn more about their decisions and experiences of self-directed support.

The study will look at the experiences of young disabled people with different and to find out about what works for them.

There are multiple ways to take part, including being interviewed about your experiences, or completing a journal which you can fill in at home.

If you’d like to take part you must be:
• aged between 18 and 30,
• live in England,
• and have about 6 months experience of managing your support arrangements.

You do not have to have a PA right now. It doesn’t matter what your gender or sexuality is.

Find out more in this recruitment video for the study. Findings will be used to develop resources for use by PAs, young disabled adults, and social care organisations. All participants will receive a £20 gift voucher for taking part.

The Support, Genders, and Sexualities Project is looking for young disabled adults (aged 18-30) who employ personal assistants and who have something to say about their support.

There are different ways to take part. You can take part in a research interview, which can be done face-to-face, through video call, or via a messenger service of your choice.

If you are unsure about speaking to someone, you can also answer questions in your own time, using a journal that the research team can post out to you or by completing questions on line.

These choices are to make sure your participation works for you.

All participants will receive a £20 gift voucher. Participants should be aged 18-30, and live in England.
