We were delighted to welcome Roman, an English and History teacher from Switzerland, to Newcastle Sixth Form College as part of a job shadowing programme.

During his visit, Roman joined English Literature, English Language and History lessons, delivered fantastic workshops on Frankenstein (set in Switzerland!), supported students with coursework and took part in faculty meetings and Oxbridge talks. An inspiring week of shared practice, ideas and global perspective - and an absolute pleasure to have as part of the team.

Weโ€™re proud to support professional development and international partnerships that enrich learning for both staff and students ๐ŸŒŸ

Outstanding work from our Year 13 Drama students! ๐ŸŽญ

Last nightโ€™s performance evening showcased powerful extracts from Prima Facie, A Streetcar Named Desire and After the End, all developed as part of their upcoming A-level assessment. Each performance demonstrated impressive creativity, confident character work and original artistic interpretation.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to share their progress, gain valuable performance experience and take a big step forward ahead of next weekโ€™s exam. Weโ€™re incredibly proud of their commitment and talent ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผโœจ

We're incredibly proud of our students' achievements ๐Ÿ‘

Over the past two years, 241 students at Newcastle Sixth Form College have taken part in our BSL-certified enrichment programme, delivered in partnership with British Sign. This week, our latest group of students have been collecting their certificates as our Tuesday afternoon enrichment programme comes to a close for 2026.

Learning British Sign Language helps students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience - and it's just one of the many enrichment opportunities available alongside sports clubs, pre-university courses, IMB Skills Build, Music & Film Production and our Performance Lab.

A huge well done to our Access and Year 12 students for their hard work, commitment and for continuing to go beyond the grades ๐ŸŒŸ

Chemistry beyond the classroom! ๐Ÿงฌ

Our Year 12 Chemistry students recently visited the Durham University Chemistry Department to experience degree-level laboratory work first-hand. On 24 March, students analysed drug compounds, identified unknown substances, and used advanced techniques such as Thin Layer Chromatography, Infrared Spectroscopy and melting point analysis - all within Durham's world-class labs. ๐Ÿงช

From collecting and analysing real experimental data to working safely as a team, this visit offered an exciting insight into the rigour, challenge and real-world applications of studying Chemistry at University.

On Saturday 21 March 2026, Newcastle Sixth Form College proudly represented the North East at the National Final of the Bar Mock Trial Competition, held at the prestigious Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Organised by the educational charity Young Citizens, the competition brings together students aged 15-18 from across the UK to take part in realistic criminal trials, arguing cases in real courtrooms before practising judges, barristers and members of the judiciary.

Competing against 23 teams from across the country, our students delivered an outstanding performance - an incredible achievement, especially as this was the first time NSFC has ever entered the competition. Throughout the day, students took on a range of courtroom roles, prosecuting and defending specially written cases and demonstrating confidence, teamwork and legal insight under real scrutiny.

The experience was both challenging and inspiring, and one that truly allowed our students to grow beyond the classroom. We are immensely proud of their commitment, professionalism and ambition ๐Ÿ‘

If you're interested in studying Law, Newcastle Sixth Form College offers incredible opportunities to help students - developing skills, confidence and experience beyond the grades.
