Newcastle University Caledonian Society Newcastle University Reeling involving a winter ball, summer ball, regular socials and shenanigans! We hold meetings every week.

Newcastle University Caledonian Society is a society that teaches Scottish Dancing, known as Reeling, and hosts a Christmas party, an Easter ball and a Summer Ball. We welcome anyone, from those who are keen reelers to complete novices. It is a great opportunity for those who have never done it before to learn and try out some reels. There will be lots of old hands coming along to these practices to show the way and teach the dances.

Final information for our Summer Ball

The ball doesn’t end after the dancing stops! We’ll be continuing to .newcastle to coat the Toon in tartan. 🪩🍸

Then we will reconvene for rollover at 10:30 on Saturday. 🍴

We are also delighted to announce the coming years committee, and say a big thank you to this years for all their hard work!

Thank you to everyone who came to Pipers & Pimm’s last Thursday!

The evening was a great success - and despite the rain, it did feel like summertime was on its way.

We will be back this coming Thursday for our last practice of the term!

We are delighted to say table applications for our Summer Ball are open! 🔗 LINK IN BIO

The application form will be open from today until 8th March - do not wait around!

Currently applications are only open for full tables. (5 x boy-girl pairs)

Pair applications may open closer to the date, dependent on availability.

As always, we encourage reelers from other universities to apply too, we love having you.

Non-members: £65

This Thursday (26th) we are hosting a pub quiz (with a Scottish theme) at Jesmond Cricket Club. A private venue, with our own staffed bar - what could go wrong?

We are super excited to be hosting the inaugural ‘Pipers & Pimm’s’ informal mini-ball! ☀️🍹

The event will be held on Thursday 12th March at Jesmond United Reformed Church.
We will be dancing everything we’ve learnt this semester, and it is a great opportunity to practice to a live band before our Summer Ball!
