It’s been great to welcome all of our students back to college today after the half-term break, including those returning from trips abroad 🌎

Here are a few final snapshots from our Art & Design students’ last day in New York 🗽

Their day began at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), where they explored some of the world’s most celebrated masterpieces, before wandering through the bustling markets en route to Times Square. After soaking up the city’s unique atmosphere one last time, it was time to head to the airport and begin the journey home.

What an incredible few days in the city that never sleeps ✈️✨

Day 2: New York 🇺🇸

Our Art & Design students kicked things off with a trip on the Staten Island Ferry, taking in those iconic NYC views 🚢✨ before heading to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

Next stop was the Meatpacking District, where they explored the buzzing Chelsea Market. They then wandered over to Little Island before finishing the day with a walk along the High Line, soaking up the city from above 🌇🚶‍♀️

🗽 We’re now on the other side of the Atlantic with our Year 12 Art & Design students in New York! 🇺🇸

Day one was packed with inspiration — taking in incredible views from the Edge observation deck, enjoying a guided tour through Central Park, and exploring world-famous collections at the Met Gallery.

An unforgettable start to what promises to be an amazing trip! ✨

More adventures in Iceland! 🇮🇸

Yesterday, students hopped on a ferry to Heimaey, an island off Iceland’s south-west coast and home to one of Europe’s largest puffin colonies 🐧. They then visited the Eldheimar Museum to learn about the dramatic 1973 Eldfell volcanic eruption before taking on the hike to the top of the volcano itself 🌋

In slightly cooler climates… ❄️🌋 Our Year 12 Geography students have been making the most of their Iceland trip so far! 🇮🇸

They’ve visited the Hellisheiði Power Station to learn about geothermal energy, ventured through The Lava Tunnel carved from basaltic rock over 5,200 years ago, explored The Geysir Centre, taken in the breathtaking Gullfoss Falls, and visited the incredible Þingvellir National Park.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip brings! ✈️📍

Community in action! 💚

15 of our senior students, alongside members of the Environmental Society, took part in our annual college litter pick on Wednesday.

Together, they collected an impressive 10 bags of rubbish from the college grounds, neighbouring residential areas and the river banks.

A huge well done to everyone involved for taking action and leading by example—small efforts truly add up to big change! ♻️

Huge congratulations to Joe and Maya, who represented our community brilliantly at the National Youth Monologues Northern Finals at the Crewe Lyceum last weekend. 🌟

Competing against talented performers from across Northern England and Scotland, Joe excelled in the Original category with a moving monologue inspired by a conversation with his grandma about Morecambe Beach. His standout performance earned him a place in the National Finals at the Trafalgar Theatre in London on Sunday 14 June.

Maya also impressed in the Classical category with a powerful performance of Adriana’s monologue from The Comedy of Errors. 🎭

We’re incredibly proud of both of them for showcasing such creativity, courage, and craft. 🌟

Some incredible photos of our Year 13 javelin thrower in action over the weekend representing GB U20s at the Loughborough International 2026. 🇬🇧

This was a fantastic opportunity for Harriet to represent GB at the U20s level competing against some of the top senior athletes in the country including the five-time British champion Bekah Walton. A consistent display of throwing saw Harriet finish 5th overall against a strong field with a best throw of 46.82 metres. 🏅

Harriet now turns to her A-Level Physical Education exams over the next few weeks as she has successfully balanced competing at a national level with her academic studies during her time at the college. Good luck! 🍀
