The University of East Anglia (UEA) would like to invite you and your colleagues to attend a free online employer webinar introducing our BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice Degree Apprenticeship.

This webinar is aimed at NHS organisations interested in developing and growing their perioperative workforce through apprenticeships. Whether your organisation is exploring ODP apprenticeships for the first time, looking to expand existing apprenticeship provision, or reviewing alternative provider options, we would be delighted to welcome you.

The webinar will provide an overview of:

• Programme structure and delivery
• Workforce and apprenticeship benefits
• Employer support and partnership working
• Practice learning and supervision arrangements
• Questions and answers with the programme team

Why attend?

The UEA ODP Degree Apprenticeship has been designed around employer workforce needs. Key features include:

• Predominantly online distance-learning delivery, reducing the need for apprentices to travel regularly to campus
• Apprentices remaining embedded within the workforce throughout their programme
• Structured employer support and regular communication with dedicated university staff
• February cohort intakes, providing an additional recruitment opportunity outside traditional September cycles

We recognise that this invitation may not have reached the most appropriate individual within your organisation. If this is the case, we would be grateful if you could forward this email to colleagues who may have an interest in perioperative workforce development, including:

• Theatre Managers
• Theatre Education Leads
• Surgical Directorate Leads
• Workforce and Recruitment Leads
• Apprenticeship Leads
• Practice Education Teams

We’re delighted to share the news that University of East Anglia has received an extraordinary £91.2 million philanthropic donation from Lord David Sainsbury, through his Gatsby Charitable Foundation, to revitalise the Sainsbury Centre for future generations.

Since opening in 1978, the Sainsbury Centre has brought art, people, research and learning together in one of the UK’s most distinctive cultural spaces. Designed by Lord Norman Foster and home to a world-class collection, it continues to inspire students, researchers, visitors and communities.

This once-in-a-lifetime gift will help protect the legacy of this Grade II* listed architectural icon, while supporting its future as a place where people can encounter art in new and meaningful ways.

The revitalisation will enhance the visitor experience, improve energy efficiency and make an important contribution to UEA’s commitment to a net zero campus by 2045.

As the Sainsbury Centre approaches its 50th anniversary, this generous support will help ensure that one of the jewels in the crown of our Norwich campus continues to inspire generations to come.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this possible 👏

Operating Department Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship

Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) are an important part of the operating department team working with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre nurses and other healthcare professionals to help ensure every operation is as safe and effective as possible. Taught primarily online by the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), our three-year course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and leads to eligibility for registration as an ODP.

Action for all of us.

We've come a long way and together we can make sure we don't risk going backwards on mental health.

We need policy makers to prioritise the nation's mental health and take action to address the root causes of mental ill health, so that we can stay well.
