Open Day is coming soon!

Why visit one college when you can visit three – or even more? 👀

Head to our central college triangle and explore Hertford, Trinity and Wadham – all just a short walk from each other.

Every college is different, so it’s always worth taking the time to find the one that feels right for you.

Hope to see you on Open Day, 18 September! 👋

🎨 From Hertford geographer to full-time painter

Hertford alumna Sophie Ackers’ series Subsurface Exposure explores fracture, pressure and deep time through oil, cold wax and earth pigments.

This year, Shear Zone was selected for the Biennale of Chianciano in Tuscany, while Residual was exhibited at Gagliardi Gallery in London.

Still finding geology in everything – including the studio.

What is HERTFORD? 👀

Hertford is many things… but here’s one way to spell it out:

H – Hall 🍽️
E – Epic Bridge 🌉
R – Rowing 🚣
T – Tyndale Window 🪟
F – Folly Bridge accommodation 🏡
O – Octagon tower
R – (Right next to the) Radcliffe Camera 📚
D – Deer 🦌

Of course, there’s much more to Hertford than eight letters.

Come and discover it for yourself at our next Open Day on 18 September 💙

These beautiful wooden entrance doors are survivors! 😀

First commissioned by Hart Hall’s Principal Thornton before 1707, they were rehung into the new frontage designed by Garbett in 1822, which had buildings on either side and a wall along the middle of Catte Street, with the gate in it.

Finally, the Jackson-designed buildings completed in 1888 filled in the quad along Catte Street and the gates were hung in their current position, with the main college entrance positioned underneath the current dining hall.
