Over the weekend, a staff team took on the National Three Peaks Challenge, raising money for Alzheimer’s Society and Motor Neuron Disease Association.

Snow, ice, sunshine, fog, wind, cloud - we had it all! After traffic, injuries and a white out at the top of Ben Nevis, Danny achieved the unthinkable and finished inside the 24 hours!! An amazing achievement, with the rest of us following shortly behind…

The second largest mega tsunami ever recorded took place in August 2025 in an Alaskan Fjord.

What made it so special was what it triggered: a series of long-lived, standing waves.

New College’s Dr Thomas Monahan was part of the team that analysed seismic data to identify the signal of the wave. This revealed the surprising discovery of a series of long-lived oscillations that continued to reverberate through the fjord long after the initial impact.

Today is Ascension Day… which means there’ll be sparklers, music and a procession in New College later this evening 🕯️🎶🚶

Ascension Day is also celebrated with the Beating of the Bounds, a 1000 year old tradition, where residents walk the boundaries of their parish or town.
