A wonderful evening welcoming our parents to the OIC community

Our Parents’ Welcome Event was a chance for families to meet our expert tutors, Principal, Vice Principals, Senior Leadership Team and staff who will be supporting their children throughout their OIC journey.

It was fantastic to see so many conversations taking place, connections being made and excitement building for everything the year ahead will bring.

Can you tell a real smile from a fake one? 👀

As part of our Head Start programme, students have been exploring how we know what we know, from using our senses and making observations to questioning how reliable different sources of information can be.

Putting this into practice, they studied facial expressions and tried to identify real and fake smiles, explaining the clues behind their decisions.

Yesterday, our students took part in their induction, hearing from our Principal and Vice Principals as they shared more about life at the College, our community and what to expect in the year ahead.

Students also heard from local police and healthcare professionals, with practical advice to help them stay safe, healthy and supported while living and studying in Oxford.

Into the wild

As part of HeadStart, students swapped the classroom for the outdoors with a hands-on Bushcraft experience.

From building shelters and learning to purify water, to fire safety, tracking, natural cordage and navigating using the sun and a compass, students put their practical skills to the test.

They also learned how to prepare food in the wild, processing rabbit and pigeon before cooking their own stew and fajitas over the fire.

A day of teamwork, problem-solving and plenty of new experiences!

Yesterday’s Compliance Day brought our community together, with plenty of new faces joining familiar returning students.

It was wonderful to see students getting to know one another, reconnecting after the summer and new friendships already beginning to form.

The OIC community is coming back to life, and we’re excited for everything the year ahead will bring.
