Good food, great company and a chance to say thank you.

Today, students hosted a Staff Appreciation Picnic, bringing together colleagues from across Christ Church for an afternoon of food, refreshments and community.

The event celebrated the many staff whose dedication and support help make Christ Church such a special place to live, learn and work. A special thank you to the students who organised the picnic and made the afternoon possible.

‘What does it take to become a climate negotiator?’

Last week, students from across the University joined us at Christ Church to hear Kate Hughes CBE share insights from more than 20 years working on climate and environmental issues, including her experience as Lead Climate Negotiator for the UK Government.

In conversation with Dr Nicholas Carter, Lecturer in Geography at Christ Church, Kate offered students considering careers in the climate sphere, the environment sector, and the Civil Service a valuable opportunity to learn more about pathways into the field. Following the discussion, she generously answered questions from attendees and spoke with students about their career plans and aspirations.

Thank you to Kate for an insightful discussion and engaging Q&A.

Our new student Gardening Club is officially up and growing 🌱

Earlier this week, students planted out our ‘edimental’ (edible ornamental) beds in Schools Quad with mangetout, yellow courgette, sorrel and nasturtiums – after sowing the seeds together just a couple of months ago.

A huge thank you to our student volunteers, and to our Gardener Aimee for leading the workshop and sharing her expertise.
