It was fantastic to see so many alumni, along with present and old staff members, and friends of the course, attend the Pathways Conference at Oxford Brookes University last week! Many of our alumni presented their current work, as part of the Primate Specialist Group, Section for Human-Primate Interactions, as well as led sessions and discussions at the conference. This was the largest group of primate conservationists ever to gather at a Pathways Conference🐒🎉

In 2003 Sir David Attenborough received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from our university, for his significant contributions to, and understanding of, the natural world. A few years after that our Primate Conservation MSc cohort of 2007-2008 got to meet him😁 We wish you a very happy 100th birthday Sir David Attenborough, and thank you for all that you do and for being such an inspiration to us all!

The new issue of our in-house journal Canopy is now available online🐒🥳 This is both a very exciting issue, celebrating the 25 years of our MSc, but it also with sadness we announce that this is our very last issue of Canopy.

A huge thank you to our editors Aquinnna Murphy, Michelle Coltrain and Linus Coppersthwaite who has put together an issue to showcase the incredible range of research that has been conducted by our MSc and MRes students over the years. And thank you to all our previous students contributing articles to this issue: Hannah Pike, Emma Ashman, Mary Swift, Catriona Jade Mills, Tesa Mendoza Blowey, Praneetha Monipi, Brittany Rapone, Mohammed Ismail, Megan McEveney and James Parsons.

We started off this academic year's Monday evening seminar series (also fondly known as Monkey Mondays) with an alumni (Sam Pottie), and we ended it this week with another alumni. From the same cohort of 2019-2020 nonetheless! Thank you Claire Mawdsley for presenting the fascinating research from your current PhD, on captive chimpanzees in a rescue centre, and for showcasing their weird and wonderful behaviours! And with this we say thank you to everyone who has come to give a talk this year, and to everyone who has joined the seminars and our evenings in the pub after. Mondays are very special for us Primate Conservation people at Oxford Brookes University ☺️🐒
