We were delighted to welcome Michael John, Head of the Raymond Blanc Cookery School at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, to judge our new culinary competition today ❤️

The competition sees students creating their own menus and a wide range of dishes before winners are crowned on both our Level 1 and 2 Culinary Arts programmes at an awards ceremony in Oxford in July.

Michael said: “It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm, dedication, and effort that all the students put into their cooking. It was especially rewarding to see their creative minds at work as they responded to the brief I had set them.

"The standard of work on display was impressive, and I was delighted to recognise two students for their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to everyone involved. I have no doubt that these talented young chefs have a bright future ahead of them.”

Well done to all those who took part in the competition.

We're delighted that two Activate Rugby Academy students have been signed with Rugby Union clubs.

Noah Brown, who studies an Extended Diploma in Sport at City of Oxford College and University Centre, has been signed with CA Brive Rugby in France, while Ollie Myall, who studies a Diploma in Sports Science at City of Oxford College and University Centre, has signed with Leicester Tigers.

Harrison Marshall, Assistant Rugby Coach at Activate Rugby Academy, said:

"These opportunities are a testament to the dedication, resilience and hard work both students have demonstrated throughout their studies and rugby development.

"Activate Rugby Academy is committed to supporting students in achieving their ambitions both academically and athletically. Noah and Ollie have embraced every opportunity available to them and thoroughly deserve this next step in their journeys."

Yesterday we welcomed back one of our alumni, Ellie, to City of Oxford College! 🤩👏

Ellie completed a Level 3 Media course with us three years ago, then went on to study Media Communications at Bath Spa University.

She has just finished her degree this summer, and we were delighted to have her back at college to speak to our current media students about her time at university.

Thanks so much for coming, Ellie!

This week gave us everything from wellbeing fairs to mindfulness workshops, VR meditation, cycle challenges, creative sessions, yoga, crafts, wellbeing walks and therapy dogs 💭🌿

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 brought staff and students across Activate Learning together to take positive action for wellbeing, in line with this year’s theme from the Mental Health Foundation: Action.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, supported events, fundraised for MindGreen, shared conversations and helped create such a positive atmosphere across our campuses and online this week.

Special thank you to MindGreen for supporting this year’s activities through charitable donations!

Together, we’re continuing to make mental health conversations more open, supportive and action-focused. 💚

14/05/2026

We asked students across Activate Learning: what does mental health mean to you? 💬

Their answers were thoughtful and honest. Many shared that taking time to look after themselves, spending time with loved ones, and doing hobbies they enjoy all play an important role in supporting positive mental health and wellbeing. 💚

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and taking small actions to look after your wellbeing can make a big difference.

What’s one thing you do to look after your mental health? 👇

Making connections ❤️

We were delighted to host our new SENCO Afternoon Tea today, which aimed to bring together educators and practitioners to learn more about our SEND provision and discuss opportunities for meaningful collaborations.

Gathering in the bakery, where learners get the opportunity to experience real life working situations through running their own enterprise, visitors enjoyed tea, cake and time to connect with others.

Visitors were also given a tour of the campus by students before speaking to teachers about our programmes, and further opportunities for learners.

Thank you to all those who attended including Fleet Education Services, Burford School and HEROS Charity.
