Young Renfrewshire

Young Renfrewshire Informing young people in Renfrewshire of information on what is happening in the area. Controlled by Youth Services.

23/12/2025

The Renfrewshire Promise Champs Christmas Gift drive brought festive joy to their peers on the “edges of care” (at home under supervision or in kinship care), ensuring everyone gets a great Christmas. They were supported by our Youth Services team. Young people in our children’s houses and living with foster carers all receive presents and aren’t part of this gift drive. Thanks to everyone who donated and helped wrap up the gifts.

Do you have an idea for young people that could benefit from funding from Celebrating Renfrewshire?

Applications for the 2025 funding round are currently being accepted and interested groups or individuals should attend an online support session to find out more about the application process.

Support sessions will take place online using Microsoft Teams on:

Remember, anyone aged 12-25 or those who work with that age group can apply. This year, projects must contibute to one or more of the following priorities chosen by our youth steering group:
- Reducing isolation and improving mental and physical wellbeing
- Cost of living
- Employability and life skills
- Staying safe
- Substance use and addiction

Celebrating Renfrewshire is back for 2025 - and we need you!

Celebrating Renfrewshire is a fund designed by and for young people, where young people aged 12-25 will have a direct say on which projects are funded in their local area.

We have opportunities available for young people to join our Steering Group and support the development and delivery of the fund. The group represent the voices of young people across Renfrewshire and is open to young people aged 12-25.

This year we are particularly keen to hear from young people who live in the Villages, Paisley East or Gleniffer Local Partnership areas, and from young people who have an interest in social media content creation.

Come along to our information session on Wednesday 5 March at Southend Action Centre in Paisley from 4.30pm - 6pm. It's a great opportunity to meet the team and find out more about being part of the Steering Group. Most importantly - there'll be snacks!

If you can't make it on Wednesday but would still like to take part then please get in touch. Just drop us a DM and we'll get back to you.

Voting has been extended for Celebrating Renfrewshire!

If you're age 12-25 and live in Renfrewshire then make sure you have your say before voting closes on Monday 15 July.

Not sure how it all works? Here’s what you need to do:
- Head to the Young Scot voting platform and enter your Young Scot Number
- Choose Celebrating Renfrewshire
- Select your Local Partnership Area – you can only vote in one area and this should be the area you live in or the area you access services
- Choose your projects – it’s important to use all three of your votes, using more or less means your vote won’t count
- Confirm your vote – if you see a red bar during your vote it’s important to go back and look for any errors before submitting, otherwise your vote won’t be counted

There are some really exciting projects looking for support so make sure you read through all the different proposals. These are all available on the Renfrewshire Young Scot portal.

People of all ages turned out to Reclaim the Night recently, with many aged between 11 and 25 joining the call.

Waving banners and signs calling for an end to violence in relationships and against people based on their gender, everyone came together in their hundreds to make their voices heard.

Workshops in recent months saw people creating their signs, such as “My body, my rules.” There were also workshops to learn a musical number using drums and percussion instruments that was played during the march.

The march started outside University of the West of Scotland and headed down Paisley High Street to Dunn Square, where a memorial was held to all those who have lost their lives to violence and abuse.

Reclaim the Night marks 16 Days of Action for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girl, the United Nations campaign. Renfrewshire has taken part of the last 17 years.

Anyone affected by violence and abuse can go to the Young Scot website and search “that’s not ok” to find help and support.
