📚✨ While the majority of our students are out on placement 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️, we’ve had the opportunity to focus on module development and ensure our teaching reflects current healthcare issues, trends, and best practice using the very best resources. 🌍💡

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been busy developing content for our clinical skills modules 🩺🎥, incorporating simulation and video-based teaching methods to create engaging and authentic learning experiences.

A huge thank you to our colleagues from practice 🙌 for taking time out of their incredibly busy roles to support us, quality assure our resources, and even put their Oscar-worthy acting skills 🎭🏆 to good use!

We can’t wait to share these new resources with our students in AY 2026/27 and see them come to life in the classroom and simulation suite. 🚀✨

🌟 We kicked off our Undergraduate Summer Open Days at our Paisley Campus and loved welcoming applicants and everyone interested in a career in 🩺 Nursing and Healthcare! 💙
Our team was on hand throughout the day to offer support, answer questions, and share insights into studying with us. 🙌
A huge thank you to our Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing lecturers, who were available to chat with visitors, alongside two of our fabulous BSc Nursing students, 🌟 Rachael and Jen, who shared their experiences of student life and learning with us. 👏💙

🫶 Theme: “Humanising the Future: New Generations, New Technologies, Enduring Values” 🤝💡
We are especially proud of our own Dr Elaine Stevens, Chair of the Organising Committee 👏, working alongside members of the Scottish palliative care community and the wider international community of palliative care nurses 🌐💙Dr Stevens is an passionate and experienced lecturer and our champion for palliative care!
Alongside Dr Stevens is Professor Bridget Johnston from the University of Glasgow 🎓, who is leading pioneering research in palliative care and serving as a representative on the Scientific Committee 🔬✨

✨ She’s only gone and done it! ✨

We are beyond proud to celebrate our incredible Jen Winch, Part 3 student on our BSc Adult Nursing programme, who has been crowned 🏆 *Adult Nursing Student of the Year* at the Student Nursing Times Awards 2026! 🎉💙

From start to finish, Jen was absolutely phenomenal professional, gracious, and a true credit to the University of the West of Scotland 🌟 University of the West of Scotland UWS Students' Union What a moment, what a representative, what an inspiration! 💫

Alongside our Head of Division, Dr Annemarie Craig, and Jen’s amazing personal tutor, Jennifer Mack, it was a day filled with pride, joy, and unforgettable memories 💐

A special highlight was being presented the award by the inspiring Joanne Bosanquet, CEO of The Foundation of Nursing Studies 👏 Her keynote speech left us all motivated and in awe 💬✨

✨ The things we do for our students! ✨

It was module development day for one of our exciting new modules in BSc Adult Nursing, where we were busy finishing teaching resources at our Lanarkshire campus 📚🩺

How fortunate are we at UWS to collaborate with our BSc Paramedic Science colleagues 🤝🚑 to create such engaging and innovative learning experiences!

We’re also incredibly grateful to our fabulous students 💙 who continuously support us and contribute to shaping our teaching methods, your input truly makes a difference! 🙌

Last day with our fabulous MSc Nursing international students before spring break and assessment submissions 🎓✨
What an incredible journey it’s been teaching such remarkable students from Nepal 🇳🇵, India 🇮🇳, Ghana 🇬🇭, and Nigeria 🇳🇬 — an absolute joy every step of the way 💙
Today’s writing retreat gave us the perfect space for some focused work, determination, and shared support ✍️📚
As Term 2 comes to a close next month, we reflect on the experiences, connections, and collaborations that made it so special 🌍🤝

Our 3rd year student nurses are in full creative mode 🎨✨

Over the past 5 weeks, we’ve been diving into leadership in healthcare, exploring different leadership approaches and change management models 💡📚

It’s been incredible to see our students grow as they develop the skills to become inclusive, compassionate, and forward-thinking nurse leaders of the future 💙👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

📣 Final Call for Participants – Research Study

Are you a Registered Nurse in Scotland with thoughts about assisted dying and how it may impact clinical practice?

We’re conducting a research study exploring the moral uncertainties and challenges nurses may face in relation to assisted dying, and we want to ensure nurses’ voices are heard.

🗣️ If you work in Scotland and are registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, you are invited to share your perspective.

What’s involved?
• A 60–90 minute interview with a member of the research team
• Conducted via Microsoft Teams or in person where possible
• An opportunity to contribute to important discussions shaping future practice
