Content Creation at Arts University Plymouth 🤳

Award-winning Plymouth-born entrepreneur and creative marketing specialist Jenny Evans has been appointed to lead BA (Hons) Content Creation at Arts University Plymouth, launching in September 2026!

Through a three-year partnership with The Influencer Academy, students will learn how to price and pitch their work, manage professional collaborations, respond to live briefs and present content ideas to national brands. Selected work may lead to paid commissions, while final-year students will receive portfolio reviews and talent development support.

The degree brings together creative production with the skills needed to build a career in content, including marketing, audience engagement and business development.

170 YEARS OF CREATIVE LIVES ✨ | Laura Davis⁠

As part of our 170th anniversary, we’re celebrating alumni whose creative journeys have taken them in unexpected directions.⁠
⁠
Laura Davis studied Foundation Art & Design at Arts University Plymouth in 2005, before studying Photography at Nottingham Trent University and beginning a career that took her around the world as a cruise ship photographer.⁠
⁠
Today, Laura is Managing Director of The Crewing Company, a media freelancer agency working across TV, branded content and creative projects. After 10 years in London, she has returned to Plymouth while continuing to lead the company remotely and working across the UK screen industry.⁠

Looking back on her journey, Laura reflects on not always knowing where her career was heading, and the opportunities that came from staying open to what came next.⁠

“It’s ok if you don’t know what to do yet. By staying open and explorative, you might end up finding a career you didn’t know existed.”⁠

Making Futures™ research conference returns to Arts University Plymouth, featuring an international programme of makers, educators and innovators redefining craft as a living system.

Registration is now open for Making Futures 2026: 'Feeling Materials – Care, Reciprocity & Responsive Matter', taking place at Arts University Plymouth from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 October 2026.

The 2026 Making Futures™ conference explores the relationship between objects, material intelligence, and the emotional encounters which shape the use, substance and physical form of the world around us.

Developed from submissions received from 17 countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas, the programme features papers, presentations, workshops, exhibitions and roundtables on material innovation, reciprocity between living and non-living systems, bioregional design, repair, socio-material entanglements, and planetary intelligence as a form of material care.

Meet Alanna Morgan!

Alanna Morgan has been appointed Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Marketing at Arts University Plymouth.

Alanna has taught on the degree since 2016, helping to develop units across all three years while building relationships with external organisations that support live briefs, work experience and engagement with the creative industries.

Before moving into creative education, Alanna worked in some of London’s highest-profile fashion retail environments, including for Miss Selfridge, where she was responsible for visual merchandising at its Oxford Street flagship.⁠

Her research into archive practice and emerging technologies also informs her teaching, particularly in digital media, visual storytelling and brand strategy.

“Having lectured and taught on Fashion Media & Marketing for almost ten years, I know the ambition our students bring and how quickly the industry around them changes.”

In pictures: Postgraduate Graduate Show 2026 ✨

What a brilliant celebration of our postgraduate community at Arts University Plymouth. The MA Graduate Show brought an incredible range of practices together across MIRROR and Studio 11, creating a buzzing atmosphere throughout the exhibition.

The work explored personal experiences alongside wider questions around place, identity, ecology and the ways we connect with one another. Visitors encountered large-scale oil painting, modular sculpture and ceramic figures, alongside fashion photography, glass installation and material-led work.

It was especially meaningful to see the show open alongside our 170th anniversary Alumni Reunion, bringing our current postgraduate students together with members of the AUP community from across the years. The day was full of emotion, conversation and a real sense of pride in the work being made here.

Our postgraduate students have developed ambitious practices through their research and making, and we’re incredibly proud to have supported them throughout that journey. ❤️

Ones to watch: Graduates 2026 👀

Ant Hill MBE — BA (Hons) Fine Art

Ant Hill MBE's graduate project, The Sentinel's Inertia, is a large-scale installation exploring the bystander effect and the difficult relationship between witnessing suffering and choosing to intervene.
The work brings together life-sized figures in states of trauma and desperation, alongside a black figure standing apart and looking down. The space between them becomes part of the work, reflecting the psychological distance that can exist when suffering is witnessed without action.

Drawing on Ant's experience as a former Royal Marines Major, the project considers responsibility, empathy and intervention, asking the viewer to reflect on where accountability lies when witnessing does not lead to action.

Ant has been an important part of the Arts University Plymouth community during his time with us, including through his role as a Student Ambassador. His journey into Fine Art has been just as remarkable as the work he has created here, and we are incredibly proud to have supported him along the way.

As Ant puts it: “That freedom is what drew me to it. And I’ve loved it so much that I’m seriously considering staying on for an MA. I don’t want the journey to stop.”

Ones to watch: Graduates 2026 👀

Eloise Bull — BA (Hons) Fashion Design

Eloise Bull's graduate collection, Embracing Nostalgia, reimagines childhood clothing through a contemporary lens. Inspired by vintage childrenswear and her own early wardrobe, the collection celebrates the joy of dressing for yourself, pairing bold colour with beautifully crafted garments.

Responding to the rise of fast fashion, Eloise's work champions thoughtful design and clothing made to last. Every piece is carefully pattern cut and constructed using natural fibres, reflecting her commitment to craftsmanship.

Alongside her fashion collections, Eloise hopes to develop size-inclusive sewing patterns that encourage more young people to make their own clothes and adapt them over time.

170 YEARS OF CREATIVE LIVES ✨ | Pete Cayless

To mark our 170th anniversary, we’re celebrating the people who have helped shape the story of Arts University Plymouth, and the remarkable things they’ve gone on to create!

First up is Film Arts alumnus Pete Cayless, whose work as a wildlife cinematographer has taken him into some of the most extraordinary environments on the planet.
Pete has worked on major natural history productions including Planet Earth III, Frozen Planet II, Prehistoric Planet, Wild Isles, Night on Earth, Life on Our Planet and Parenthood, as well as the feature-length wildlife documentary The Elephant Queen.

His work has brought audiences closer to wildlife through moments that require extraordinary patience, precision and an instinct for storytelling. He was also part of the team behind the elephant sequence in Planet Earth III, which went on to receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program.

Stories like Pete’s are an important part of the legacy of Arts University Plymouth, and we’re proud to celebrate his work as part of our 170th anniversary!

A special evening, celebrating 170 years of Arts University Plymouth. ✨

In July, we welcomed our alumni back to the university for a very special evening celebrating the opening of our exhibition at The Box, In the Making: 170 Years of Arts University Plymouth, which celebrates some of the highlights from the last 170 years, from photo archives to alumni work!

For 170 years, our community has grown through the people who have passed through our doors. Every person who has studied here has left their mark, and every milestone has become part of our journey. Our alumni are what make Arts University Plymouth the amazing place that it is, and it was wonderful to have so many of them back with us!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening one to remember.
