A message from our 2023-2025 SU President Ezrie.
"To everyone who opened their results this year and found that things hadn't gone the way they hopedโฆ
When I reached what should have been the end of my veterinary degree, I wasn't actually finished. I had a couple of final exams left to resit in September. After six years at university and two years as Students' Union President alongside my studies, it wasn't the ending I had imagined for myself.
At the time, I felt disappointed. I watched friends move on while I still had work left to do. It was frustrating, and it certainly wasn't part of the plan.
But what I struggled to see then was that a delay isn't the same as a dead end.
A few extra months, a resit, or a different timeline doesn't take away everything you've achieved so far. It doesn't erase the years of hard work, the challenges you've overcome, or the person you've become along the way.
And for anyone wondering: I passed those resits! ๐
So if you're facing resits this summer, please remember that this result is one moment in your journey, not the whole story. You are still capable and you still have every opportunity to reach the goals you've worked so hard for.
Your path might look a little different from what you expected, but different doesn't mean worse.
Be kind to yourself over the coming weeks. Take the time you need, lean on the people around you, reach out to the Studentsโ Union and your lecturers, and keep going.
