During last weeks course tutorial with the HE FdSc Year 3 Veterinary Nursing students, three alumni attended to share their career journeys and discuss the additional courses they have undertaken since qualifying at Myerscough College. The session included valuable advice, thoughtful questions, and engaging discussion throughout, making it a highly interactive and informative experience. Thank you to Burch Tree Vets and The Veterinary Defence Society Limited for coming in and giving our students this opportunity.

Yesterday Myerscough hosted a graduate showcase and a degree experience day and we were delighted to welcome 30 prospective HE Veterinary Nursing students to the campus. A lot of hard work went into organising the events and there was a great atmosphere on campus all day. We have to say a huge thank you to our 1st year FdSc students who were just brilliant! They took the applicants on campus tours, planned and implemented various activities including bandaging, a hand hygiene task, patient health checks, kennel cleaning and animal handling. It was lovely to see their confidence during the tasks, speaking to the applicants and answering questions about all things Myerscough. This was part of their inter professional module and they were certainly professional and did us proud!

Our students have had the amazing opportunity to assist with lambing at Myerscough Lee Farm recently. Every group of students have really got stuck in and had a great experience from assisting with labour, feeding lambs, mucking out, bedding up and moving sheep and lambs. A huge thank you to all the staff at Lee Farm for making us so welcome and allowing us to help you.

Our FdSc Year 1 and Foundation Year 0 recently visited Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lancashire. They had a tour, a talk from Lecturers Leanne and Hamish with Q&A opportunities with year 2 & 3 vet students and visited the dissection tables and model room. In the afternoon, they had a lesson with Hamish where they mingled with some Year 1 vet school students introducing themselves and exploring each others experiences so far. The group will follow each other over the next 3 years with more visits where over time their interactions will be more clinical and structured to simulate the clinical environment. The visit was set up as part of their interprofessional module.
