The University of Reading is doing it's part to welcome all students to our community.

Please read further to learn more about the ongoing work the University of Reading is doing to make Reading a welcoming environment to refugees and those seeking asylum.

Following the signing of the Reading City of Sanctuary pledge in April 2017, we have worked hard to offer a place of sanctuary to refugees living in the local area and across the UK. Scholarships, bursaries for English language courses, volunteering programmes in schools and provision of wellbeing activities are among the ways we have helped those who have had to flee their own country for a new life in the UK.

We have been making progress towards achieving University of Sanctuary status and were delighted to have hosted the national and regional coordinators of the scheme at a meeting on the Whiteknights campus earlier this month.

Beautiful flowers, fuzzy bees, and a cool breeze. The weather today may not be sunny, but it isn't stopping the busy bees from pollinating the many flowers on campus. This little bee stopped long enough for me to get a picture and then went right back to work!
