We were proud to support the long‑awaited return of the St Helens Dance Festival following a six‑year hiatus, reviving a much‑loved cultural celebration that has brought communities together for more than 30 years 💃

As part of the 2026 pilot programme, St Helens College hosted both a Community Dance Day and a Schools Dance Open Day, creating opportunities for people of all ages to take part in dance experiences. Families and young people enjoyed a full day of engaging workshops led by experienced practitioners and educators, while pupils from across the borough explored a diverse range of styles including Indian dance, contemporary, hip‑hop and musical theatre.

These events celebrated the incredible talent within St Helens, while inspiring creativity and collaboration in a welcoming and inclusive environment. It was fantastic to see so many participants come together to share in the joy of dance and community spirit 🌟

A rare behind-the-scenes perspective on recycling for our Level 2 Science students at Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre as part of their Environmental Science studies ♻️

The visit brought in cross-curricular learning as students explored how electricity and electromagnets are used to separate materials like metals, and how engineering systems move cardboard and paper through the process. They even saw how cans are compacted into bales ready to be sent for recycling. ⚙️

🔥 An important part of the day focused on the challenges of non-recyclable waste. Students learned about the dangers of items such as v**e batteries and nitrous oxide cylinders, which can cause fires and explosions in recycling vehicles, as well as the difficulties of safely disposing of such materials.
