Eccles College - Skills for Life and Employment The department provides further education opportunities for learners with special educational needs.

The department is continually graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and provides further education opportunities for students with a range of needs who may require additional support in order to progress. All classes have both teaching and support staff and students can have out of class support where necessary. The department has close working partnerships with a range of agencies, employers and loca

l government, which provide support and progression opportunities. All students have an annual Person Centred Review/EHCP to ensure they are on track and receiving appropriate guidance and support.

🌳🧭 FREE Orienteering Adventure – Part of Salford Big Health Week! 🧭🌳

As part of Salford Big Health Week, the Skills for Life and Employment Department is excited to offer a FREE Orienteering Trip on Tuesday 16th June, from 9:00am – 2:00pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for learners to get active, enjoy the outdoors, and develop valuable teamwork, communication, navigation and problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment.

🐘🌿 This week, our amazing students from the Skills for Life and Employment Department enjoyed a fantastic trip to Chester Zoo! 🌍🦒

The visit linked closely to their courses, giving students the opportunity to develop their communication, independence, social interaction and life skills in a real-world environment. Students explored different animal habitats, learned about conservation, practised map reading and navigation skills, and worked together throughout the day. 🐅🗺️

It was wonderful to see everyone building confidence, engaging with new experiences and making lasting memories with their peers and staff. We are so proud of how well our students represented the department and supported one another throughout the trip. 💚

A huge thank you to all staff involved in organising such a valuable and enjoyable learning experience! 📚✨

Following on from our recent Beyond Empower Day, we wanted to share this fantastic video showcasing the range of inclusive sports and activities available for young adults with SEND through Beyond Empower 🎥⚽🏀

Our students had such an enjoyable day getting involved, trying new activities, building confidence and connecting with peers from across our college sites. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and having fun in such an inclusive and supportive environment 💙

A huge thank you again to Beyond Empower, all of the activity providers, and Neil Hall for organising such a successful event 👏

Our lucky Skills students have been invited to attend the first dress rehearsal of the Footloose production at Pendleton College!

What a fantastic day at our Internship Find My Future Careers Fair! 🌟

It was brilliant to see our students fully engaging with providers and making the most of the opportunities available to them. The enthusiasm, confidence, and positive attitudes shown throughout the day were fantastic to witness.

A huge thank you to all the providers who supported the event and helped create such meaningful experiences for our learners. We are incredibly proud of how well our students represented themselves and the college today! 👏

Yesterday our Voc groups enjoyed a fantastic trip to Formby Beach, making the most of the beautiful weather ☀️

It was a great opportunity to focus on positive wellbeing, with everyone spending time outdoors, connecting with nature, and enjoying the fresh sea air. Days like this are so important for boosting mood, building confidence, and creating lasting memories 🌊🌿

Last week we had an amazing trip to Barton Airport ✈️

Our students enjoyed a fascinating tour led by Steve, who did a fantastic job bringing everything to life. They learned all about the history of the aerodrome, how it operates day-to-day, and even the science behind how aircraft fly.

The group also explored the major parts of an aircraft and got up close with some of the unique and interesting planes based at the airport.

A big thank you to Steve for such an engaging and informative experience — the students loved it!

🎉 100 YEARS OF SALFORD – WHAT A CELEBRATION! 🎉

Last week we marked a huge milestone with an unforgettable celebration in our college lecture theatre!

Our students took centre stage, creating and performing an original song developed through creative workshops with Rachael McFarlane. From writing the track to recording it at Future Skills, they then delivered a brilliant live performance for staff and students 👏🎶

We were also treated to a surprise visit from the BBC Philharmonic and even some “dancing cupcakes” bringing plenty of smiles and energy to the day! 🧁🎻

A fantastic day full of creativity, pride, and celebration – what an amazing way to honour Salford’s history and our students’ talent! 💙

We’re excited to be hosting our upcoming Athletics Day at Cleavleys Athletics Track on Tuesday 9th June!

From this point forward, students over 18 or those who do not wish to take part in activities can complete the form to confirm their preferences.

📌 Please note: ALL students must respond so we can organise the day safely and effectively.

👉 You do not have to compete — students are very welcome to attend, support their peers, and enjoy the day as spectators.

From this Monday (13th), Chloe will be running football training sessions as part of the youth club for our members.
