FOR ANY STUDENTS AND ALUMNI WHO BEGAN THEIR STUDY PATH AT LEVEL 2 THIS MAY BE OF INTEREST AND IMPORTANCE
The Government is thinking about making changes to the qualifications for students who are age 16 and over at entry level, level 1 and level 2. This includes CPCAB qualifications such as the Introduction to Counselling Skills, and Certificate in Counselling Skills.
The Government have said they want to make it easier for students to take qualifications that will help them in to further study or work, provide them with skills and knowledge for the workplace, and make it easier to understand the qualification landscape.
However, to do this, the government is proposing removing funding from many current qualifications which will mean that learners will have much less choice in the subjects they can study or the training they can take. They are particularly looking to cut funding from smaller qualifications, less than 120 guided learning hours, so that learners are guided into longer periods of study.
We want to better understand why learners chose the qualifications that they do and what the impact might be if there is less choice available, and if only longer courses were still available.
The Federation of Awarding Bodies has arranged an online Zoom meeting, which will be hosted by Rt Hon Anne Milton, the former skills minister at the Department for Education on 14th April from 2-3pm. This meeting is for learners to talk about how this will or would have impacted on their ability to study the qualifications they have chosen.
Please be aware that this is during the spring holidays in most areas. You do not need to do anything to prepare for this meeting, we are just keen to hear your thoughts. I hope that you will be able to join us. Please can you confirm your attendance by email to [email protected]
