Whether you are taking Psychology as your degree, an extra module or you just have an interest in the subject, Psych & Neuro Soc is the place to meet other students like you. The society organises academic activities such as lectures and trips to Edinburgh Zoo but we aim not to be too geeky and therefore organise weekly lunches, a ball and other kinds of socials. We have lots of exciting ideas for

Dr Hollie Burnett, Clinical Psychologist in the School, is leading a workshop on the use of neuropsychological assessment tools in Clinical Psychology. This session will focus on the assessment of intellectual disability in adults. Participants will gain hands-on experience using clinical assessment batteries, as well as practice scoring and interpreting results within relevant diagnostic frameworks.

We were delighted to host Professor Belinda Hacking for one of our Career Sharing Sessions, where she shared insights into clinical psychology, coaching psychology, and leadership within the NHS.

She spoke about her career journey, the realities of working in clinical services, and the importance of resilience, teamwork, and practical experience for students interested in psychology careers.

Our Career Sharing Sessions are designed to be informal spaces where students can hear directly from professionals in the field and ask questions about different career paths.

We’re delighted to be hosting a Career-Sharing Session with Professor Belinda Hacking on 5th March at 15:00 (online).

Professor Hacking is an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh, a Consultant Clinical and Coaching Psychologist, and a Quality Improvement Specialist. She’ll be speaking about her career journey, working in clinical psychology, and offering advice for students considering this path.

The session will last 30 minutes followed by a Q&A.

This is a great opportunity to hear honest insight into clinical practice, consultancy, and training pathways — and to ask your own questions.

Open to all students.
Zoom link will be shared ahead of the event.
