University of Stirling Catholic Society

University of Stirling Catholic Society Welcome to the University of Stirling Catholic Society page. We meet in the University Chaplaincy at 6:30 pm.

for our fellowship events, and on Wednesday at 1:15 pm. for a mass followed by teas, coffee and hot chocolate! We spend time praying, having game/movie nights, attending various catholic-related events outside of the uni, inviting guest speakers, going for hikes and more. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Most Members go to Mass on Sundays at St Mary's Church, Stirling at 11am., so feel free to say hi to us after either 👐🏻

That was a DARN good walk ✨
This weekend, our society did the Darn walk trail from Bridge of Allan to Dunblane and we checked out the cathedral there! A really fun (FLAT!!) beginner friendly hike- join us next time! 🥾🌲

A message from the current president:

It has been an absolute joy and honour serving this soceity for the past year and getting to watch it grow immensely to the glory of God. I have loved getting to know and grow close to everyone and will cherish our memories together forever.🤍
This society has given me far more than I could have ever given it, and I’m so thankful to God and the whole team for this experience.

Heres a list of some of our favourite books for you to read this summer to learn a bit more about the Catholic faith. Theres something in here for everyone!

Here are a few things you should know about the mass, whether its your first time there or you’d just like to deepen your understanding!
⁉️FAQ:⁉️
1) “What does being in a state of grace mean?”
- Being in a state of grace means you are not in a state of mortal sin (think breaking any of the 10 commandments- that includes keeping the sabbath, so if you’ve missed sunday mass- go tell your priest!!) , and/or have been to confessions prior to receiving!
2) “I heard some people fast before recieving, is that a must?”
- The church does encourage fasting for at least an hour before receiving at mass, however, if you have health requirements or are on medication that requires you to eat, or any other extenuating circumstance, don’t worry about it!
3) “Im celiac/gluten free, what can I do to recieve?”
- most parishes have gluten free hosts kept separate! Just ask your priest prior to the mass and he can let you know when to recieve, or if you don’t catch him before mass, let him know when you walk up in line! Alternatively, you can recieve just the wine (the Precious Blood)
