chool brings your learning alive and makes the world our student’s lecture theatre with an exciting range of field trips and placement opportunities. Prior to Covid included a unique range of both local and international experiences. Field Trips & Placements have now been restarted however Covid has enabled the School to develop new global and local opportunities. These include Virtual & Hybrid Meet the Expert Masterclasses with Global Industry Leaders & High Flying Alumni as well as Online Behind the Scenes Visits to Events, Hospitality & Tourism Venues. This has included students interviewing the President & CEO of WestJet Airlines Ed Sims just before his retirement. The School has a strong focus on Employability and Industry Partnerships. With over 30 years experience in industry engagement this includes partnerships with global hotel leaders Marriott across the U.K. & globally with Ritz Carlton as well as locally with Ironman Wales, Swansea Tri, Swansea Ironman 70.3 & World Para Series Tri 2022. The Events & Tourism programmes offer students unrivalled opportunities for practical experience and industry engagement. Student work closely with industry on Hospitality, Guest Service, Marketing, Travel, Attractions, Sports Events & Conference Projects. In 2022 this has already included involvement with the Train Travel change Event, Swansea City Conference, Ironman Events, World Para Tri Series, Swansea Tri & students taking over the planning and management of Ffos Las Race Course for their Manage The Track Event on 23rd March. Students have for decades enjoyed unrivalled and constantly developing placements opportunities which have included Walt Disney World, Royal Caribbean & Carnival Cruise Ships, Mark Warner Beach Resorts, PGL, Rockley Water Sports, Merlin, Jumeirah Resorts & many others. Careers Take off for students in the school. The success of Tourism & Events graduates has been nothing short of incredible. Alumni from the programme include Hotel GM’s, Founders of Global Event Companies, Activity Companies & Tour Operator, Entrepreneurs, Food & Bev Directors, Spa Directors, HR Directors, Event Directors, Resort Managers, Marketing Consultants, & the list goes on! The School is extremely proud that past graduates include the MD of U-Live, Universal Music Touring Division, CEO of The Mary Rose Trust, Senior Global Director of Royal Caribbean Charters & Incentives, the Head of Business Events Tourism for the Welsh Government as well as the President of the Management Trust in & Development Director of Coyotes Pro American Football in California. Many of whom regularly engage with current students to inspire them to follow in their footsteps.
