What a way to spend one of the hottest days of the year! ☀️☀️ We visited The Royal International Air Tattoo and I think everyone would agree it was a fabulous day out!!

A few weekends ago the CSA went the furthest afield we’ve managed since Covid with a trip to Oxford, conveniently only a bus trip away from the defence academy. We toured the castle and a college or two and brought 13 students together from various courses for a sunny day out! The social life both inside and outside of our working hours is livening up more and more 🥳

A few weeks ago the CSA took over 3 lanes at the local bowling lanes in Swindon, with a mix of taught and research students in attendance. The social scene is very much revived, and more activities are already planned for the coming months!

To welcome the new Research student cohort, the CDS Doctoral Community staff team put together a fantastic day of team building events, including a scavenger hunt around site, indoor games and finally the famous CSA “Pizza and Beer” social event in the evening! 🍕 🍻 We’re hoping to do more like this and continue to make the most of our own designated researcher’s building!

We officially have our new building! The designated Researcher building is now open for daily use and will allow our students to connect with each other across all disciplines. We’ve hosted our first of many social events today; afternoon tea with cakes, biscuits and even a dog! ☕️ 🍰 🐶

It's been a while since we've posted! We've been busy getting back into the swing of physical events, having now tagged along to several events run by the Defence Academy and several run by our excellent Doctoral Community staff team too, but we thought we'd jump on the Halloween bandwagon!

The CSA opted to collectively carve a pumpkin last night whilst watching the Addams Family, which went down a treat (not a trick!). The end result is below!

We'll be trying to maintain the momentum, especially with some of our cultural traditions coming up such as bonfire night and Christmas markets! Keep an eye on the MS Teams page and your inboxes for future information 🎆
