✨Did someone say cake?✨

Our 2024/25 committee were thrilled to be invited to the 20th Anniversary Celebration marking 20 years of University of Exeter medical students in Cornwall! 🎉

We had a fantastic time meeting Professor Laura Mongan, Associate Dean for Medical Education – and even had the honour of Sophie and Tia helping her cut the cake! 🎂

It was a wonderful event, and we're excited to continue working closely with Professor Laura Mongan and Professor Richard Holland, Dean of the University of Exeter Medical School, to champion widening access and support aspiring medics from all backgrounds. 💚

As we get closer to the end of the academic year, we need to find some more fabulous students (you!) to take over the WAMS committee for 2024-25. If this is something that you would like to get involved in, I have attached a little more information about the roles and what they involve. We do have a more thorough document about it all - if you would like this, just drop us an email.

The deadline is Sunday 19th May 2024.

The committee had an amazing time at the National Medical Schools Widening Participation Conference yesterday at Nottingham University.

Lots of interesting speakers, workshops, and research presentations. Rhiannon and Rhys were even selected to present their research via posters at this national conference!

Stressing about how funding for 5th year is going to work, and no clue where to start applying for everything?

Do not stress - 5th year Sophie Blummers is going to be running a session about all of this on Thursday 11th April at 6pm. She will give you all of the information you need, and be there to answer any questions you have.

This will be super useful for 4th years needing to apply for their funding now. But any year is welcome to ease any stresses you may have around financing 5th year!
