We had a brilliant collaborative session tonight with . We practiced different scenarios that are likely to occur in places without easy access to equipment, such as drowning, spinal injuries, and broken/amputated limbs. We also got to practice with some fantastic equipment that pre-hospital medics would have access to!

We all really enjoyed the scenarios. They were engaging, well organised and fun! Thank you so much ! Hopefully we can have more collabs in the future 😄

To celebrate our final session of Term 2 we have a fantastic collaboration with the Wilderness Medicine society (LUWEMS) tonight.
🚵🏊‍♀️⛹️‍♂️🌳
LUWEMS is kindly leading a session on improvised outdoor first aid, particularly for contexts where you may find yourself in a rural place with no access to a proper first aid kit or quick back-up. Come along tonight to learn what to do and how to do it for a range of injuries and illnesses!

The first aid society is excited to welcome you LUWEMS! We hope both societies enjoy this collaboration and learn a lot from each other.

This is also a reminder that the first aid society has been nominated for three awards at the Society and Media Awards taking place this Wednesday. Some of the exec will be attending to represent the society and hopefully win some categories! We appreciate all the nominations and are delighted that our brilliant society and all its hard work is being recognised. Keep your eyes peeled for a post about the award ceremony 👀🏆👏

Want to be part of our fantastic executive team next academic year? Want to support fellow society members? Want some free food (including pizza!)? 🍕
Then come along tonight to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) to run for, or elect, the exec for next year! All you need to do is prepare a very short explanation of why you want a certain role. Even if you are not planning on joining the exec team next year please still join us to vote and to find out who will be taking over the society. This is a great opportunity to have your say about how the society is run and make any suggestions for the future.

Tonight we will also be learning about the important rules around consent and safeguarding when administering first aid.

We hope to see lots of you there!

As the weather in Lancaster gets warmer, we aren't the only ones enjoying the sunshine! 🐝🐕🌞
Animal bites and stings become more common as people start to spend more time outside and in the wilderness without taking proper precautions.

Join us tonight to learn some important facts to treat bites and stings so that you can confidently enjoy the outdoors!

GRAND TOTAL REVEAL:
£622.25 has been raised from our 2 mile fundraising walk for St John Ambulance. £510 of this was from your donations alone, with £112.25 added from Gift Aid.

This is a fantastic total and we are extremely grateful to everyone that donated. Your donations have contributed to the life saving work that SJA do on a daily basis.

Donations are now closed but keep an eye on future fundraising schemes run by St John Ambulance.

The first aid society is always open to new members, so if we have caught your attention, feel free to come along to our sessions that run every Monday.
