New College Worcester is a national residential School and College for young people aged 11 - 19 who are blind or partially sighted. Every student at NCW has an individually tailored programme in three key areas: academic achievement, independent living skills and extracurricular activities. We accept students who are funded via their own local authority or independently funded as well as students

from overseas. Out students are inspirational, talented and wonderfully resilient young people and we hope you enjoy sharing their NCW journey via these pages.

📣 BREAKING NEWS!📣
We are delighted to share that NCW is now part of the Aequalis Education Trust. The decision follows an extensive review by the Governing Body, in a move supported by both the RNIB and Worcestershire County Council.

This partnership will help us to go from strength to strength, whilst preserving NCW as an essential asset for the VI community. We will continue to be a specialist school for VI, whilst exploring expansion of our remit to support more young people with our specialist expertise.

This development will bring huge benefits to our students, staff and wider community, securing the future of the college for generations to come.

We’re looking forward to welcoming students back to campus today after half term! 🌿

It’s a beautifully cool day here in Worcester, and staff are excited to see everyone return.

This half term promises to be an amazing one, with trips to London, Activity Week, prom, BBQs, cricket matches,
Celebration Day… and the end of exams in sight! 🎉

Enjoy a few photos from last half term — and let’s make this one just as memorable 👏

Once part of the NCW community – always part of the NCW community 🧡

Huge congratulations to former students Toby and Corey on achieving their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and celebrating at Buckingham Palace! 👑

This is an incredible achievement!

Their dad shared:
“What once felt impossible became achievable – proof that with the right support, true inclusion is possible.”

What an inspiring achievement. They started their DofE journey here at NCW and we are bursting with pride! 💫👏

1pm – our students are on their way home for half term! ☀️🍦

To celebrate the end of term (and the very welcome sunshine!), the Wellbeing Team treated students and staff to a selection of ice lollies this morning! 😄

Sixth Form stars Jo and Toby, along with Mr Stephens, headed out on an all-important ice lolly mission, while Ms Hayward and Mrs Denman made sure everyone got a treat – smiles all round!

Wishing everyone a wonderful half term break 💛

Staff stand beside the trolley handing out lollies, while students hold ice lollies and chat nearby. Boxes of ice lollies and bags of supplies are visible on and beneath the trolley, with school hallways, noticeboards, and windows in the background.

Budding law enthusiast Faith heads to court! ⚖️

Student Faith recently attended an educational visit to Worcester Crown Court, where she had the opportunity to learn more about the legal system firsthand.

As part of the experience, Faith took part in a structured session which included hearing from a judge and asking questions about the judicial process. During the visit, she also had the exciting opportunity to meet the new High Sheriff of Worcestershire.

A fantastic experience for an aspiring legal mind 👏

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

At NCW, accessibility is at the heart of everything we do — but it means something different to everyone.

Let’s start a conversation…

👉 What does accessibility mean to you?
