Created by Jenny Jones (Academic Support Librarian), the Wrexham University Community Cape represents a snapshot of our University Community at the exact time we were submitting our Action Plan for the Race Equality Charter. Each of the 8000+ petals is a celebration of our people, cultures and identities of the community here at Wrexham University (Academic Year 2024-25)

"I hope people will take away is the concept that: we need lots of different ingredients to make something beautiful. Whether that’s different people, different backgrounds, different ethnicities, As a whole, that’s what makes something beautiful."

Today we acknowledge IDAHOBIT Day, in celebration and support of the diversity of our people here at Wrexham University. Our Organisational Development and Diversity Team, alongside out LGBTQ+ Staff Network want to echo Galop's reminder of the support they provide.

We want to ensure our people know that alongside our Employee Assistance Programme 'Health Assured', there is also additional avenues of support. Galop is the UK's only specialist LGBT+ anti-violence charity. They provide advice, support and advocacy to LGBTQ+ people who have experienced hate crime, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

"...remember, Galop is here for anyone who experiences hate because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. If you've experienced or are worried about anti-LGBT+ abuse and violence, please get in touch. We're run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and our Helpline is open Monday-Friday." - Galop

This year, we’ve created a short video to introduce our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Annua Report 24/25. We are so proud of our people and work tirelessly to ensure we can celebrate our identities, that our people feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work and that we are all mindful of all of our unique and wonderful differences.
It’s important to know that we take an intersectional approach to our work around inclusion. We understand that no one characteristic is any more important that another and that we, as individuals, are made up of many different identifying features, opinions, values and traits.

Wishing you a happy Easter from all of us here on the People & Culture Team

Easter is probably the most important celebrations of the Christian calendar. Many of the iconography, symbols and artwork we see in relation to Jesus comes from the Easter period – and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ just three days after his crucifixion, as recounted in the New Testament. It signifies the triumph of life over death, forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life for believers.

Mae Pasg yn debygol o fod yn un o’r dathliadau pwysicaf yng nghalendr y Cristnogion. Daw llawer o’r eiconograffeg, y symbolau a’r gwaith celf sy’n ymwneud ag Iesu o gyfnod y Pasg – ac mae’n dathlu atgyfodiad Iesu Grist dair diwrnod ar ôl ei groeshoelio, fel y nodir yn y Testament Newydd. Mae’n symbol o fuddugoliaeth bywyd dros farwolaeth, maddeuant pechodau, a’r addewid o fywyd tragwyddol i gredinwyr.
