Recently, Wrexham University was delighted to celebrate the impact of Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) activity across the region at a special event hosted on campus.

The event brought together businesses, partners and stakeholders to showcase the innovation, collaboration and opportunities created through SPF support.

A highlight of the afternoon was recognising the individuals whose dedication and hard work have helped make these projects such a success.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and inspiring event.

Thinking about a career in teaching, training or education?

Our Certificate in Education (PCET) and Professional Graduate Certificate in Education PGCE (PCET) programmes can prepare you to teach in Further Education, Higher Education and Adult Learning settings.

The PGCE (PCET) offers an alternative route into teaching for those with vocational and academic experience in their specialist field, with the Certificate in Education (PCET) designed for those with vocational experience and doesn’t require a degree to start studying.

We are now also offering alongside the PGCE (PCET), the Certificate in Education (PCET) as a 1-year, 1 day a week, full-time study option for those looking to fast-track their career into teaching.

The course remains available as a flexible 2-year part-time option, designed to fit around work and other commitments.

Current students from the programme will showcase new and emerging approaches to teaching and learning at Wrexham University’s upcoming Creativity and Innovation in Education Conference on Thursday, June 5th.

Earlier this week at the Urdd Eisteddfod, Wrexham University was proud to be part of a pivotal moment for Welsh-medium education.

Elen Mai Nefydd, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Welsh Language, Heritage and Culture), joined Dr Ioan Matthews, CEO of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, to speak at the launch of the Welsh Language Commissioner’s new thematic report, 'Cymraeg on the Campus'.

The vital research sheds light on student support experiences in FE and HE through the medium of Welsh, specifically focusing on four key areas:

📝 The ability to submit written work in Welsh
🏡 The option to choose accommodation with Welsh-speaking students
🎓 The offer and allocation of a Welsh-speaking personal tutor
đź’™ Access to wellbeing services through the medium of Welsh

Following the launch, Elen Mai spoke with the BBC on the national news to discuss how we can collectively improve these experiences. At Wrexham University, we are fully committed to working closely with the Commissioner to address these gaps and enhance the overall student experience.
