Really good to welcome our graduate Dan Middleton back to Wrexham Glyndwr today to talk to our students about his time on the broadcasting, journalism and media communications degree programme here at Wrexham Glyndwr and his career in the creative industries. Dan now works as a broadcast editor at the William Hill HQ in Leeds. He also took time to share tips on building work experience and finding career pathways. Big thanks to Dan (seen here with our second years) for coming up to North Wales via Leicester especially to see us.

Our first year journalism students enjoyed a visit to the BBC studios based here on our Wrexham campus. Big thanks to the BBC North East Wales team, based in our Creative Industries Building, including news organiser Cath Steward, for taking the time to talk to us about their experiences of working for the BBC. .

Our students have been turning the tables on Leader features editor Jamie Bowman today, interviewing him about his career. Egwyl magazine editors Emma and Kara chatted to Jamie about life as a journalist before he then interviewed them about the Wrexham Glyndwr University student magazine. Keep an eye out for the resulting video and article on Egwyl.com and in the Leader newspaper.

We’ve been out and about on campus on this sunny autumn day. It’s quiet at the moment but soon it will be full of new students, ready to begin or resume their studies. We rather like these cute hammocks which are in siesta square in the heart of our campus 💤 😴 💤

Former Foundation year student Stuart Timmins (now entering the final year of his degree) produced this track for a University project earlier this year. He messaged me on a Sunday evening if I could provide a guitar solo... with the wonders of digital technology and home recording facilities, an hour later it was done.

From Stuart:
'Written by Chris Sutton, and performed by Chris, myself and fellow former The Caines member Andrew Guthrie (once aka General Elliott)

Guitar solo very kindly supplied at very short notice by Stephen C. Kenyon-Owen.

And introducing, making her musical debut on tuned wine bottles, Daniela Autiero!

(Mixed on the morning of the deadline, minor tweaks to come!)'

Another university project... Written and performed by Chris Sutton Produced and mixed by My Mind Pictures Vocals and acoustic guitar, stomping, handclaps, cabasa: Chris Sutton Electric and acoustic
