The YSJ uni Grounds Team does some fantastic work to support biodiversity. This morning saw the release of over 40 Tansy Beetles at the uni, the culmination of 6 years of work to establish habitat for them. The aim is that this creates a Tansy Beetle 'ark', protected from the flooding that can affect populations along the River Ouse. YSJ Geography students & staff will be able to help monitor this population in the years to come, to see how it grows and spreads. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿชฒ๐ŸŒฟ

Day 1 of the Belfast field trip is orientation, finding our way around the city & visiting key places. This has included a stop at the peace wall dividing the Falls Road and Shankill Road. YSJ Geography lecturer Jude Parks (a Belfast native) adds her own message.

Here is an opportunity to contribute to a project called Crowd2Map and map Tanzania. Tanzania is not very well mapped, particularly in rural areas. The Crowd2Map project will make a real difference both for aid workers and everybody to get around. All that you need to be able to do is the Internet. The team at Crowd2Map will really appreciate some more help. Visit crowd2map.org and check out the how-we-map page.
